    This is interesting. Gazdag was a bit offside when the free kick was taken, but it's debatable as to whether or not he affected play, as the ball went by him.

    Yup. I've always sort of hated that because technically anyone that close to goal is in the "run of play" if they are in motion unless they stand there like a statue with their arms behind their back ( John Wilmar Perez, did it best ).

    Oh well. Tie ball game and I have a me point. Boo hoo Charlotte Diving Team...

    I was actually talking about a play that happened on the previous attack. I agree with that one not being a penalty. Cheberko made plenty of contact, but Ageymang did velcro himself with the arm, and he was never going to get that ball back.

    Gazdag was moving towards that ball in the sense that he never stopped his run. But he never actually made an attempt for it, which is probably why he was OK.

    I'll say this -- if they had decided to call that no goal in real time, that probably doesn't get overturned either. He WAS right in the center of the action while in an offside position. If an AR says "he's affecting play," a VAR probably isn't going to say he's wrong.
