Camacho is not the answer he is not better than Zawadzki he just gets beat differently because he is a savy veteran , good positionally because he is smart. He was a stop gap guy and never a long term solution. He is not good athletically and Charlotte burned him before so the result would be the same. Zawadzki is young ,has potential and so you have to live with the growing pains. His positioning and strength will only get better while Camachos skills are declining and will only get worse. Neither player is a top 10 CB, we could use an upgrade as it’s an important position but then Zawadzki would go back to being a back up. He is better at CB than CM to me but probably RCB would be his best spot but Moreira is a stud and not tall enough to be successful in the middle (we tried that he was serviceable) and Cheberko is decent in the middle but looks better at LCB. CB is not our biggest issue right now and it’s an extremely hard position much like GK. Your going to make mistakes your going to get beat and give up goals even if your a top 5 CB which neither Zawadzki, Camacho or Cheberko are. Teams who can counter us and attack our back line are a problem as well as teams who have size on set pieces because we have mostly small undersized CB. You’re going to give up goals. We continue to blow good scoring opportunities the problem is more offensively because if you get a lead and get up it sure helps the defense but we miss way too many chances (beyond wasteful ) we play a attacking style that leads to more high scoring games because we’re aggressive. So I completely disagree with every single thing that you’re saying. Zawadzki is absolutely not better off in the midfield ! He might be better off as a back up Swiss knife guy but unless we get a starting CB from somewhere he is the best we got. I do agree that turf is crazy and it’s a long season and teams go through struggles. Right now the teams in the east are trying to figure it out and there isn’t a lot of separation. Nobody is consistently dominating as a lot of teams made changes and with such a short preseason it takes awhile to develop chemistry.Rossi is definitely suffering without playing off a star player because he isn’t that type of DP he isn’t good enough to be that guy and has never done it. Maybe if he works hard he could be but I’d rather add a star striker and make him more effective in his natural role. Cucho was Batman and Rossi was Robin, we need Batman or Gotham ( i mean Columbus) is going to have more and more issues. Staying healthy and sticking with a group of guys is important. While we could use some starters to upgrade our talent we have a fair amount of new guys trying to learn the system. Accept the fact we haven’t done well vrs top teams or in a congested May schedule. I trust that Nancy will get these guys going my only concerns are with Tall and if he will get these guys needed in a timely manner. Its a hard job but this summer he has to find that guy. Gazdag will get better but I don’t think we should rely on him being Batman. But if we don’t get a other guy we will all have to hope that Nancy being the Wizzard he is gets everyone playing at a high level and we win with Robin level hero’s
What were the Charlotte fans bowing to when they turn their back to the field? It was something off camera. I really hate that field they have. 3rd year in a row we lost players to injury there. It's unsurprising our defense was subpar when we lost a US national team goalkeeper and the reigning defender of the year.
IIRC they put something on the scoreboard. But it's mainly just theatrical to look up at the rest of the section and to bounce during the chorus of that song they play (Pepas).
Building on your point, I just saw this: I knew we had picked up injuries there previously, but I didn't realize it had happened the last three times we visited. Oof.
