Werder will participate in the Dresden Cup tournament from July 29-30. Other clubs who will play are Everton, Real Betis, and hosts Dynamo Dresden. http://m.welt.de/newsticker/sport-n...esden-empfaengt-Bremen-Everton-und-Betis.html
Melvyn Lorenzen receives his first ever nomination for Uganda's NT. He'll play in their upcoming AFCON 2017 qualifier against Botswana on June 4.

Eichin working on securing Johannes Eggestein to a contract extension. The plan is to move him directly to the senior team next season if he signs. http://www.kreiszeitung.de/werder-b...stein-naechste-saison-profikader-6412976.html
Some pretty dramatic stuff is happening in the front office, as we've now parted ways with Eichin. There's been rumblings about this for the past few weeks but it's now made official. There's been several ongoing disputes and conflicting views that Eichin has had with the supervisory board. Major one including whether to keep Skripnik as the club's head coach. Eichin has been an advocate for bringing in someone new. While Marco Bode and other members of the Board want to continue supporting Skripnik. Frank Baumann makes his return and will take over for the role of new manager. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...aumann-uebernimmt-bei-werder-fuer-eichin.html
I knew there was a decision conflict between administrator board and Eichin on coach Skripniks future. But this outcome hit me unexpected and makes me speechless. I think Eichin did the club good with a non-Werder past (I rate the transfers he did as clever). Now we have a bunch of former sympathetic Werder players, but they have not seen much outside of Werder. IMHO many clubs surpassed us in the last years especially in tactical aspects and to be honest the development of the home-grown players was more than worse. They seem to start making positive progress once they left Werder (Harnik, Kruse, Bellarabi, Füllkrug to name a few). I wish Baumann all the best, but what is currently happening I judge it as a big risk.
Definitely agree that Eichin has brought a lot of positives during his time at Werder. Especially at a time where financial resources were very constraint and they had to explore more creative solutions instead. Losing him and Schröder in the same year is tough. I'm not sure if Baumann is a vocal enough manager but hope he is ready to take full initiative now that he's given this role.
More internet reactions to the whole Eichin-gate situation. http://www.kreiszeitung.de/werder-b...erein-wieder-saft-werder-familie-6417775.html
Another former player in the mix. Tim Borowski is also open to joining the Werder management team depending if Baumann & Co want to bring him in. http://www.kreiszeitung.de/werder-b...r-wenn-frank-mich-gespraech-ruft-6422800.html
Hope AJ reaches full recovery and has better luck staying match fit in the upcoming season. Es läuft wieder besser bei @aronjo20! 🏃🏼👍🏻 #GrüßeAusIsland #Werder pic.twitter.com/vNvY5b29ps— SV Werder Bremen (@werderbremen) May 26, 2016
Melvyn Lorenzen has made a positive impression during his training camp with the Ugandan NT. He's expected to play at least one half of their next friendly against Zimbabwe. After that he will discuss with his agent and decide whether we wants to represent them internationally. http://www.monitor.co.ug/Sports/Soc...er-Zim/-/690266/3219156/-/d08sam/-/index.html
Tim Steidten will work in a supporting role for Frank Baumann. Although there won't be a title of new sporting director, his responsibilities are similar to Schröder during his time here working with Eichin. Steidten's main priorities will be towards scouting and maintaining contact with consultants. http://www.weser-kurier.de/werder/w...-wird-Baumanns-rechte-Hand-_arid,1386299.html
Baumann is willing to give a new chance to Hajrovic based on how he does in summer training camp and preparations. Izet Hajrovic soll lt. kicker in der Vorbereitung eine neue Chance bei #Werder bekommen. Baumann: "Dann sehen wir weiter."— worum.org (@worum_org) June 1, 2016
Johannes Eggestein signed a professional contract until 2019. Zlatko Junuzovic thinks about leaving Bremen, candidates 1. FC Köln and some Premier League clubs. Rumors say Zlatko does not get along well with coach Skripnik. And that Junuzovic wants to use the Euro 2016 to get into the spotlight.
Kinda knew this day would come at some point. It would be a considerable loss, as Junuzovic has consistently been one of our top players in the last few seasons. But this would provide a chance for one of the young talents to move up. I'd like to see Niklas Schmidt from the U19s be given an opportunity. He shares many similarities in his game to Juno and can develop into a future set piece specialist.
The plan with Johannes Eggestein for next season is mainly to have him play with the U23s while also training with the pros on a regular basis. The first year of his 3 year contract will serve as a learning period. He's at an early stage of his career where the 3.Liga can offer him a fair level of growth and competitiveness. While we then bring him up officially to the senior team in the second year and onward. http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/werder-bremen/werders-plan-mit-eggestein-46162570.bild.html
We gotta give Kleinheisler more chances next season. #HUN midfielder László Kleinheisler is the @carlsberg Man of the Match 👏#EURO2016 pic.twitter.com/Mh7QopFRvm— UEFA EURO 2024 (@EURO2024) June 14, 2016
Kleinheisler was fantastic yesterday, but with so many Werder, current and former, playing yesterday not sure I heard SVW mentioned once.
Same with Junuzovic on Austria during the same match. Werder's contributions to footballer development too often does not get recognized enough. List of other current and former players representing in the Euros: Özil, Prödl, Arnautovic, Harnik, Gebre Selassie, de Bruyne. While Grillitsch has the makings of a future NT player for Austria. Sokratis should also be among those names although Greece didn't qualify for this year's tournament.
In first round of DFB cup we will play Sportfreunde Lotte (3. Liga, promoted from RL West. Lotte is close to Osnabrueck, maybe Lotte moves there to have a bigger stadium.
