Dennis says he intentionally stamped on him because he was "frustrated" at not being awarded a free kick. Hmmm, intentionally, eh? stamped, eh? - nah, he'll still get off lightly. I'm all for a no-game ban, but he has to fly to Guam.

Wenger now saying Bergkamp must have suffered form a "nervous reaction." Classic.

In a bag with a cat.
Nils-Eric Johansson, the (stand-in) left back. He has also elbowed the same player in the face at Ewood park last season. I've never liked Bergkamp for the reason that he can be a niggly rattle thrower at times, and he often gets away with it because he's a 'flair player', and not say, a 'midfield hard man'.

I want a 3 match ban for Dennis.

Wenger is no different than his arch nemesis Alex Ferguson.

When Roy Keane punched the guy in the face like a few months ago when asked about it Ferguson said some weird excuse

Yeah, if you can't have a laugh at your rivals, then who can you laugh at? ;)

I always liked Dennis as a player, he had class and flair. Even that goal that put England out of the WC a couple years or so ago was first class.
But this is not the first time, (or fifth) that he’s deliberately stamped on a player.
He gets "frustrated" a lot in his older and slower years…!!!

Cut it out Dennis or you’ll end up like Keane, go out in style..;)

that was hardly a vicious kick though. looked more like he tapped the player with his foot. maybe he was convincing him to get up and keep playing cuz he looked like a fool relaxing on the pitch like that.

It was a deliberate little love tap with his cleat on Johansson's hip. I was amazed he did not get a red. The ref tossed Flitcroft with a second yellow for nothing more that a spirited tackle.

"Maybe it was a nervous reaction but Dennis is not a dirty player"

    haha

This is by no means an isolated incident. Bergkamp has done it before, the most obvious being the match versus Yugoslavia in France 1998. Though I feel him to be inspirational and extremely technical, Bergkamp does possess a temper, and should be reprimanded by the FA.

Exactly what I was going to say. Bergkamp was lucky to escape a red card in that match. Only because the ball was simultaneously going out-of-bounds, and the AR had looked up to signal, did the refereeing crew miss that stomp.

Bergy deserved to be at least booked for that stamp in the Rovers match and for that Yugo stompy-poo.

But I have to say: Neither of those were in the **least bit** horrible, grisly pain inducing vicious kicks.

Someone on this thread mentions that he elbowed the same player earlier. But I've not seen a whole lot of flying, reckless, career threatening stuff from Bergkamp, a la Roy Keane, Joao Pinto, or the Uruguayan Natinonal Team.

Not to excuse it . . . just a little perspective, is all.
