Utd are also going after a young Italian keepen named Enrico Alfonso who is a U-17 player. http://skysports.planetfootball.com...ID=3&lid=&title=Utd+and+Arsenal+chase+talents
The goalkeeper is Enrico Palazo!! Sorry, it's Friday and I had to put in a bad movie reference (Naked Gun). Interesting move though by both clubs. Keen on seeing what develops.
Wenger figures we need another keep then. Jens on the out maybe? The real question though, are either of these players as good as Lee Carsley?
Hey, I had to cut off my satellite and Sky Sports so Ive been "Out of the Loop". Why is everyone bringing up Lee Carsley all of a sudden? Ive heard his name mentioned in several threads.
He scored a nice goal off of a free kick last weekend, and in a momentary lapse of reason, Dave M suggested we sign him.
Actually I was thinking along the lines that he might finally move Taylor into the top spot, with this new spod being the "trainee". Unlikely, but it was just a thought. Actually with further consideration he is likely looking to replace the Reserve Team's keeper...
More likely. Is Graham Stack still in trouble with the law? Stuart Taylor will also be unhappy with his chances at Highbury. He's not going to cut the mustard for a top of the table team, but he will want to play somewhere. I can foresee Taylor will move in the not-too-distant future.
I feel a little sorry for Taylor to be honest. He's a competent enough keeper. When Seaman used to go off mid-match I never used to panic when Taylor came on. Hes a decent enough dead shot stopper, even if hes not so great with those dreaded set pieces. But he hasnt really had TONS of match experience over the years that I can recall, and so never really had the chance to develop into anything other than a solid second choice...
Apperantly Arsenal has shown an interest for Norwegian goalkeeper Knut Borch (24) who at the moment is playing for Tromsø IL. He is going on a week traning with the club, apperantly.. Article in Norwegian: http://www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=257205
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=318253&cc=5901 "Wenger also confirmed Tromso goalkeeper Kanut Borsch was coming for a trial next week but insisted 'it's more to have a look at him than to buy him as we already have good goalkeepers'."
That's what I love about the internet. The fact that 2 people half a world apart who've never met could be thinking the same thing at the same time shows that it really is a small world after all, even if the thought is about a Norwegian keeper on a trial with the Arsenal. See, world peace is possible!
Being a young Arsenal 'keeper is basically like being a Spinal Tap drummer. While I'm always happy when good young goalkeeping talent signs with us, I'm also always somewhat amazed. I mean, is it the player or the agent that's unaware that upon signing with Arsenal the young 'keeper will either: a) not see any meaningful playing time; b) suffer a serious injury; or c) both.
Maybe the agents like the fact that their player will be moving around quite a bit in the near future. Do agents get commissions for loan deals?
Assuming that Stack is cleared, do any of you/does Wenger regard him as a serious long-term option, or just as another Taylor?
If I could rep this 10 times, I would. Since I can't, I sigged. Excellent "Tap" reference. 442 would be proud.
