Santa brought me some and then I ran out and picked up some he forgot. A very oldies Christmas. Best of the Animals (awesome, I must say) Best of the Lovin' Spoonful Elvis - Number 1 Hits or whatever it's called Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks Stevie Wonder - Early Hits Radiohead - the one with Creep Robyn Hitchcock - Strange Creatures and Antiques (or the like) XTC - Skylarking Blues - Jukebox Classics
Well, nothing really, but with a gift card to Best Buy, I got: Audiovent - Dirty Sexy Knights in Paris Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf That's it for my music haul.
Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra......Para Ti Johnny Lang......Lie to Me Santana......Shaman B.B. King.......Why I Sing The Blues
Santa brought me: Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - Wilco White Blood cells - White Stripes Tanto Tempo - Bebel Gilberto My wish list was some 20 titles but Santa only came back with three...grrr.
My wish list had at least 20 titles on it, plus one very big DO NOT buy me this (Paul McCartney Live - I'm a huge Beatles fan, but I really didn't want this one one the shelf). So, I got 4 of what I asked for and then ran out and bought a bunch of stuff that wasn't on the list. You could debate that the Animals and Stevie Wonder were on the list, since I'd included the large categories of music like English invasion bands and Motown collections. Anyway, a trip to the used CD store turned up a good haul.
I got: Bob Marley - "Rastaman Vibration (2 CD deluxe edition) The Surf Champlers (still waiting on this one to arrive, a great surf rock band from Okinawa.) I got two DVDs "Koyaanisqatsi" & "Powwaqatsi" the Philip Glass/Godfrey Reggio collaborations.
Cut Chemist/DJ Shadow - "Brainfreeze" - A nonstop live mix of strictly 45's and exercise in vinyl destruction. Calexico - "Scraping" - A live performace from the Great American Music Hall in SF last January. Both are nice, difficult-to-find CDs so I appreciated the effort that Santa put into it. Murf
Mark Knopfler, "Ragpicker's Dream" DVD of Emerson, Lake & Palmer in concert Santa also brought me 50 blank CDs, so between he and Kazaa, I guess I received any batch of songs in the universe I might want.
My folks got it at Borders so I assume so. http://www.theonionavclub.com/reviews/music/music_v/variousartists08.html So far, I like the CD. It's a bit uneven from track to track and a few of the tracks are kinda cheesy (but then, so is all of Bollywood, so there ya go) but when DJ 'Dan the Automator' gets it right, it's so good.
I got: Beck, Sea Change The Roots, Phrenology Sting, Bring on the Night (Finally!) Bob Dylan, Love and Theft Later, COZ
