87' and Brilliant picks up a straight red for DGSO. I think it was a bit harsh, myself, but if it means Atlanta can play a little more safely tonight then I'll take it.
I just woke up. This time, the nap was deliberate- I'm desperate for something positive here. But I'm not going to miss every match. At some point, they're going to have to play like this with me listening.
FT: 0-4 The biggest takeaway tonight is that DCU is really bad. They allowed Atlanta so much space with the ball it was shameful. The good news is Atlanta took advantage of it. They were good enough to know they could out work and put play their opponents and proceeded to do just that. Most importantly they did so via quick passing and teamwork, so it wasn't just a couple players and it wasn't just a couple moments. Whether or not that performance could beat, say, Columbus I can't say but it shows potential. 3 pts, plus good form and confidence. Take it and move on.
The league needs to come down on them hard for this, and maybe the ref as well, tho he'd have no reason to expect it. DC and Olson ain't shit... really? REALLY?
Having checked the DC forum, it looks less like a cynical move and more like they just forgot to add Canouse to the roster
DC fans have been calling for Olsen's head since before Rooney was there. Given how he handled things last night I can see why. Feel sorry for Gressel in that regard.
I've been camping all weekend, so all I've got is the score so far. A good win! Yay! I'll watch the highlights after I get the kids to school.
Looked like a lot of good wing play, good crosses (finally), and playing to our strengths -- which are different than they used to be. We're now an old-school Premiership team with small fast wingers who cross the ball to a big tall forward who heads the ball into the goal. I'm surprised it took us this long to figure out this game plan. It was against DC, so I'll happily take my grain of salt as well. I'm also giggling at how many anti-Atlanta folks are piling on Glass for questioning the ruling on the substitution issue. Glass was never even rude; he questioned the source of the ruling and stuck to his guns. Olsen, who will survive this week only by dint of DC's terrible front office acumen, looked like an absolute tool during the sub thing. I'm glad they didn't instantly forfeit, because four goals -- attributed to players' stats -- is better than three.
I've said before that if we can win multiple Cups with a given style, it's all good. but there's no point to playing ugly Brithoof if we don't. I guess the next manager will decide how attractive we become. I don't put anything past our haters. Not sure why they're hating now, tho- we're no longer one of the league's best teams. I guess this is the year for all our victims to come forward...
Seems I read somewhere that Moreno will be in the lineup, even tho he hasn't trained with the team yet. Doesn't seem to make any sense, so take it with the grains of salt it deserves...
Word from Wednesday's broadcast and Roberson's articles is that Moreno will be eligible but unlikely to play even if added to the roster. Methinks if he is added it's merely to get him acclimated to the side and the scene, and maybe trot him out for a few minutes at the end.
Man, I hope this guy pans out. It's clear the new manager isn't getting the keys to a Ferrari, but neither should we be giving him a skateboard.
Dude's been on the hot seat since he took office in 2010, and the one time I mention him getting fired, he gets fired! I'll be heading to Vegas now to blow my retirement savings on sports betting.
