Well, the war on terrorism didn't end with Afghanistan, here we are in Iraq. And there are two more countries named by Bush as part of the axis of evil. So what's he gonna do 'bout them?

Talk is cheap, so I've learned. That doesn't mean I think there will be much support at all in the international community to go into yet ANOTHER country to "root out evil". And it doesn't mean I fully support whats going on now. But it DOES mean that there will surely be pressure from within Bush's party to back up the warnings if these "axis of evil" countries don't fall in line with the Bush Doctrine.

It seems obvious that what was begun in Afghanistan surely won't completely end in Iraq. Possibly not in such an invasion-like fashion! But it can't be ruled out given the response so far from the Bush administration to the events of Sept. 11th.

but doesn't this already count as two? or is it just one, continuous event?

and would further action be considered as the same event? or seperate "wars"?

Who wants to bet me $1000 right now on this?

We aren't going to invade either country, and if you knew anything at all besides "Bush loves war, duh" you'd know why.

I get more entertainment reading this drivel.

Of course, Powell's going to say this.

What's he going to do...rub his chin and say, "Hmm...let's think about this as a concept."???

It may be a bit misguided to call the following a "salutory" effect of the war, but imagine yourself as the Assad family, or Kim Jong IL, or part of the Mullah ruling elite in Iran.

Aren't you going to be a teensy-weensy bit nervous right now??

Think these guys are stocking up on some Tagamet and Pepto Bismol??

    By the caseload.

It's flown under the media radar screen, but Kim apparently has NOT started up his plutonium reprocessing facility yet. The expectation was that by now, it would be running, and producting enough nuclear material to assemble a half-dozen weapons annually.

Here's my take on what MIGHT happen over the next 6 to 12 months:

--Sometime before the year is out, we will hand North Korea an ultimatum to cease and desist its nuclear weapons and ballistic missle programs. We will work very hard to have China and Japan as joint signatories. If Kim does not do so, we will then institute a naval blockade for the purpose of preventing proliferation. We may or may not give him a deadline to dismantle his weapons programs

--We will go before the United Nations and call for the nuclear disarmament of Iran, and the installation of another inspectons organization.. This one will be EASY, because we know where their weapons programs are. Meanwhile, we will raid a number of terrorist camps inside Iran from bases in Iraq.

--If it turns out that Syria is storing some of Iraq's WMDs, we will find out about it, and demand they hand them over. If they do not, we will send special forces in to destroy these WMD caches.

It's going to be VERY interesting.

We should just take out the Iranian facilities and be done with it. No UN. No excuses. Otherwise it will be too late.

I really can't see us doing anything about Syria even if they have some of Iraq's WMDs.

    your a tool. :)

    Enlighten us as to why.

And where do you get any "Bush loves war, duh" sentiments from this short as crap, stupid as heck thread?

No, wait, nevermind, let's not fight. :D

I suppose it depends on how you define war. I have trouble counting the Grenada and Libya actions as wars.

The Bushes have been far more eager to apply military force than Reagan ever was. If anything, RR demonstrated that Americans wouldn't fight (see Lebanon). Reagan made Americans feel good about themselves, but Bush I eradicated the Vietnam Syndrome. Of course, if Bush II really tries, he might just be able to resurrect it.

Also the fact that even mad Ronnie was kept in check by the USSR. Dubya doesn't have the same counter-part. China you wouldn't necessarily want to get on the worst side of, but nothing the scale of the Soviets.

I'm convinced Iraq has a lot of its WMD stored in Sryia's mountains. Also, those rats are die hard supporters of terrorism. I don't like syria one bit.
