Oh, it's worse than you think. This shit is made just down the street from where I live. Oh, but it's not a crusade. It's not. Just tell these retards that. Of course... x infinity Thank you for helping my taste become a bigger embarrassment nationally. Awesome.
I wonder what scripture was inscribed in the nuclear bomb they dropped on Hiroshima... "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they are doing" Or maybe "It is finished"
A weapon that has Christian scriptures on its sights isn't a concern. Its all the bullets that say "To Whom it May Concern" that are the problem.
Go ahead. But why don't you give it 24 hours. You know, it case other people decide you're not the purveyor of all discussions of import around here.
Well if you need the echo chamber around here to validate your opinions, that's swell. Pathetic and sad, but swell. And how dare I have a different point of view. I should be ashamed.
Congratulations. You're not bothered. So why suggest closing it, threadjacker? It's not quite February. I'm not ready for you to be back to your dickish self so soon after the new year.
Duh. Everyone knows that if you don't sanctify them you can't kill vampires and zombies and werewolves and stuff.
You started the prick assault, asshole. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=19721779&postcount=6 You think something is a big deal. I don't. Instead of having a discussion you get indignant. Typical you. Open minded until someone doesn't see things your way. Then bring on the pissyness. This piece of equipment is designed to kill. Who cares what the ******** is engraved on it? The morality of taking a life trumps every issue ancillary to it.
And I thought those things just hung malls and places like that. But they are in Iraq and Afghanistan? Who knew?
What is there to discuss? I don't see how this is worth a thread. At least not in the politics forum. In the religion forum, it probably would lead to an interesting discussion of the ethics of being a soldier and what the Thou Shalt Not Kill commandment really means. I want to test out this new feature...bear with me. [LINEUP-4-4-2]Obama Coburn Snowe Nelsen Feingold Wilson King Shuler Frank O'Reilly Moore[/LINEUP-4-4-2] Howzat look? Edit...hmm, not what I expected
Disappointing - Trijicon makes good hardware. Of course, as a private company it is their right to adorn their products however they wish, but it is entirely inappropriate for this stuff to be on issued military gear. I think the military should stop purchasing Trijicon stuff unless the gear delivered to fulfil a military PO is sans-scripture. This does make me glad I went with an EOTech sight on my rifle, and has kind of cured me of the desire to someday get an ACOG. I find mixing religion and capitalism kind of crass, and don't really have any desire to support Trijicon by giving them my money. Unfortunately, this controversy will, undoubtedly, garnish Trijicon a lot of support from the "pro-military" community. There really are an awful lot of people who conflate Christianity with both America (like the Trijicon spokesman) or with American military policy in the self-described "pro-military" camp. It's kind of off-putting.
Sometimes a scripture could be helpful in explaining a crime. Like, lets say, a guy kills his wife, and when they find the gun, it turns out that it says "Thou shall not commit adultery".
Thanks. To get the thread back on track, I would think it's rather hypocritical to put scripture on weapons, but I suppose it really depends on what scriptures they are inscribing. If the inscription on the weapon says "Vengeance is mine", it's not really hypocritical. If it says "Love one another"... that's a different story.
Pretty much no equipment the government purchases - unless it's for chaplains - should contain scripture of any kind. The cognitive dissonance between the actual scripture and its presence on a weapon is a secondary concern.
Even if it's the best? These scopes can say 'Matt in the Hat fellates little boys' as long as they are the best scopes our soldiers can get their hands on.
How long until the PC police starts beating the drums for the disbanding of the armed forces' chaplain corps?? Does this mean government dollars can't be used to buy food from Chick-Fil-A or In-N-Out??
Philly, how would you feel if they started inscribing verses from the Koran? Thanks for the link, Barbara [LINEUP-4-3-3]Matt, in, the, hat, fellates, little, boys, and, big, boys, too[/LINEUP-4-3-3] Let's see how that works.
