Yeah but why didn't the apes continue evolving into humans?

Because humans are actually apes! :p

For the record, chimpanzees are genetically more similar to humans than they are to gorillas, while gorillas are genetically equally similar to chimps and bonobos as they are to humans. That is why in taxonomy we consider humans to be a type of ape. We are just "the naked ape" (well, most of us anyway).

 It's been in the news for days. We ever we get a report of snow here for more than a couple of inches, I either head to HD and pick up some. Or if they are out, order from Amazon. Amazon has always had stuff in stock and it arrives the next day.

Not to mention, it's "climate change," not "warming." Meaning that, while temperature will increase on average, and summer temperatures will get longer, winters will become more extreme and colder.

He continues to display his idiocy.

No, I don't think they can. I bet you were teaching a class when this came up.
Try it on someone who didn't earn a 4-year degree.

And you didn't get, "No, I ain't related to no ape in no way. Gawd made me in HIS image, not in a monkey's!"?

It was -3 degrees for me but at least the sun is out.

Will say working in an office has me grateful that I don't have to work outside much anymore.

As Troy McClure once said so eloquently: "I hate every ape I see, from chimpan-A to chimpanzee". They finally made a monkey out of him!

Many years ago, while my cousin was just out of university and hadn't gotten a full time job yet, he talked about laying brick in the winter...in Wisconsin. I couldn't understand how he didn't get frostbite...or die, since I was living in CA. He just said, "they heat the bricks." :ROFLMAO:

I thought we have to control Greenland because of global warming?

Ya know, I’m starting to have doubts about the intellectual consistency of MAGA.

My father (a biology professor) was featured for two days on the local news when I was in HS. The debate was between him and our pastor. They appeared on different days. Dad was basically being portrayed in the media as science without faith.

Algos give me debates where Christopher Hitchens wrecks a pastor, priest, rabbi. It basically boils down to facts over faith. Hitchens says "for 100,000+ years God stood idly by as people died in their 20s from horrible diseases, died from their rotting teeth, from childbirth, natural disasters, war and then a few thousand years ago he magically appears in a backwater in the Middle East and reveals his truth to mostly illiterate people"

And let's not forget that this deity only appeared to people in the Middle East's fringe, leaving millions of people in the Americas, Australia and the Pacific completely ignorant of its existence until conquistadors and missionaries showed up with what was effectively a convert or be killed choice. For example, the people of Tuvalu were forced to accept Christian missionaries into their islands because the British were using cannons to "persuade" them. The missionaries in the Cook Islands subsequently outlawed traditional songs, dances, tattooing, etc (known as the "Blue Laws"), those in the Mayan world destroyed the Mayan codices containing their advanced knowledge of mathematics and the universe (unlike the Greeks and Romans, the Mayans actually had the concept of zero and understood the movements of Venus relative to the earth and sun), while on Easter Island the missionaries helped the destruction of the vast majority of the rongorongo tablets containing the only written language in the Pacific (and probably one of only 7 independently invented writing systems in the world), with roughly only two dozen tablets surviving the purge. And I won't get into the impact the missionaries and "Christian understanding" had on LGBT+ people around the world. God truly works in mysterious ways! :cautious:

[But, of course, none of them were "true Christians" (TM) because that would just be anti-Christian of me to associate all those negative, destructive and murderous things with Christianity.]

And his followers take as fact a book of “his word” written by people with agendas who would’ve thought that electricity was magic.

I see lots of Samoans on BYUs teams which likely means they're big believers in American Buddy Christ

LDS is huge in the Pacific. Tonga is something like 20% Mormon, Sāmoa 18%, etc. When I was doing my research on Easter Island the Mormons had a policy where if any Rapanui joined the church, their kids would be offered a free university education in the USA (at BYU-Hawaii, if I remember right). It didn't take, partially because English was not widely spoken, so they wouldn't have been too incentivized by the offer. But such an offer, if they did it, would go down well in places like Tonga and Sāmoa which did have much higher levels of English fluency.

    That's pretty low down.

"Your path to salvation runs thru a religion where people just a shade darker than you were not qualified to lead a congregation, but hey- we'll pay for undergrad school"

Jim McMahon got into and out of BYU without it affecting his thought processes, but I don't know that a young visitor to the US could come away clean.
