BBC reporting that Borini deal is done. Welcome back to England, this time to a real club. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18823096
Welcome, Patrice "pinocchio" Evra. You can be the assistant janitor at Mellwood. Please start cleaning toilets immediately, you f***ing piece of crap.
For that Fee and hearing all the good things about him and his Poaching skills,he could be a real Coup...Only time will tell though. With so many Quality players on the Continent it kills me that We threw all that on Downing,Henderson and Carroll....Really would have loved to See BR use that kind of Money with such a clear Footballing Philosophy in place.
I think it's fair to say our big-money signings cost the previous management. To be fair to Dalglish, he was operating in a market with which he was most familiar (the British one). Unfortunately, it's not overly blessed with talent, and that talent which is available is eye-wateringly expensive.
congrats on borini, looks to be a very talented youngster although i am very sad to see him leave italia.
Glad to have him back in England despite him going up North , better opportunities to watch this guy on TV now as well . You guys will enjoy him alot.
Love everything I've heard/read about him. Bit of a coup for us prying a burgeoning young talent out of Italy, but it's also been reported that he really wanted to work with Rodgers again, which speaks highly of our new manager. He seems like a no-nonsense player with a lot of drive and determination. Exactly what we want.
It looks as if we paid £10.5 million plus an additional £700,000 in add-ons. http://www.asroma.it/pdf/corporate/operazioni_di_mercato/13-7-2012_BORINI.pdf Reportedly he is on £30k probably explainingwhy Rodgers is non-committal about Carroll who cost and is paid much more.
I'm happy with this one. Young and cheapish, with potential to be a star. Hopefully a good start to the Rodgers reign.
His familiarity w/ the country and culture will be bonus for Aquilani, too. Looking forward to watching the little poacher play.
A very good signing indeed, imo. And a clever one too - young, but with significant experience in top flight competition and a lot of potential, not excruciatingly expensive. We haven't had too many of these over the past decade or so...
The transfer this most reminds me of is Xabi - young, full of potential, relatively unheralded but still a full-fledged international, and a new manager's first signing. Certainly there's no comparisons in their playing style, but Borini is a smart piece of business, just as El Director was. Looking forward to seeing him play this year.
bbc says Carroll gets paid 80k/week. Which means he gets paid more than double what Borini is going to get. (2 and 2/3rds more to be exact)
I like this move. It seems like Rodgers has an idea of what he would like to do and he would like to bring in. Rafa had ideas as well. Some of them were misses, but he brought in some big-time players (Alonso, Reina, etc). Hopefully Rodgers does the same.
By the way, almost as embarrassing as the move to overpay Carroll by what seems like 20 million pounds plus, is that we gave a 22 year old 80k a week? Management was mental. The whole point of overpaying in transfers for young players at the cusp of greatness is you get them for four or five years at reasonable wages. Not wages of 80K a week, star salaries for 22 year olds! Double financial whammy. Oh and according to the internet (which is not worth the e-paper it is written on, I know) Luis Suarez gets paid LESS, at 71K/week. What a joke.
I must say that isn't something I had actually thought of; it might be a really good thing for Aquilani who never seemed to really fit in to the squad. having another Italian in the squad who has lived there already might be just what he needs.
