    i never thought i'd see a worse #7 stint than Valencia or Depay but Sánchez proved me wrong big time

    Smalling is coming back because Roma are cheap and trying to save 2-3mil Euros (they appeared inclined to pay previously btw) on one of their best players this season.
    They apparently are turning to Vertonghen (because he's free) but let's see how that will work out for them: his legs are pretty much gone at this point.
    For 18mil Euros, I'd imagine that Smalls will not be short of options though, be it in England or on the continent.

    It was an immensely stupid decision to sign him to that contract. It is an even better job to find a way out of it. Honestly, Arsenal haven't been able to shift Ozil for years now and he's better than Alexis.

    Oddly enough, if he was on reasonable wages, he'd have been an excellent depth/rotation/sub option in the team's current identity.
