He's hardly lighting the world on fire over there. With his age, recent record, injury record and salary, it's hard to see us selling him to anyone, let alone for a decent price. Another Ed deal that will cost us money on its way out.
whether he stayed here or went on loan. dumpster fire that we can't extinguish any time soon regardless
yes. highest paid player and can't crack the 18 much less stay fit. probably the worst swap deal in history. it's like we imposed our own transfer ban on ourselves
It is a strange one - as he did have very very good data at Arsenal, and without his output our attack collapsed
I'm not exaggerating when I say that his deal is the kind of deal that should result in the firing of the people responsible. It will cost the team, has cost the team more than any single player we've ever signed.
Any sane person could see he was waining at arsenal as well mikhi has been shite too just a bad deal all round compounded with ozils salary
I agree it turned out terrible, but the odd thing is Dino tried so hard to keep him, to the point of almost destroying any transfer value and then having to let him go at the last, and both City and Utd fought over him So with 6mths to run on his contract at Arse, at least 3 teams believed he was still elite? We certainly knew there were serious issues with him at Arsenal, especially in how he broke our structure, but in hindsight, a large amount of our goal production was him and ozil. You can trace our offensive decline directly to his exit.
Yeah, I think the issue I have is not in pulling the trigger. You can't be faulted for that. The issue is in paying a boatload of guaranteed money over a long time to a player past his peak. That's a no-no. I think Alexis needed very very much a lot of movement and ideas around him but he also needed to be batman and chemistry just wasn't there for United. You don't fire your broker because he picked a bad stock that he thought was gonna be good. You fire him because he put all the damn eggs in one basket that it turned out was on fire.
Hope we can find him another club to go to on loan at the very least. China would still be ideal solution as they'd be able to take him off our hands completely but who knows if it's even an option right now. Whether we get Sancho or not, I don't want him at the club again. If he genuinely wanted to be at the club, might be inclined to give him a chance (even as a rotation/squad guy). But Ole has done well by the looks of it to build a solid team in terms of spirit and squad unity and Sanchez could definitely have a negative impact on that, based on what we know about him. Even if it's another deal, like the one with Inter, where we have to eat part of his salary, then so be it. That is the price to pay unfortunately for the insane contract the club gave him. Still have 2 full years to go too...
Inter CEO Beppe Marotta to @SkySport: “We will sign Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United on a permanent deal. We’ll announce the deal tomorrow with an official statement”. 🔴 #MUFC #Inter— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 5, 2020 Thank god it’s almost time to lock this thread.
A bust. I know y’all will likely disagree but I wish United would have signed him when they signed Ashley Young. It was too late when he did arrive and his failure at the club was just bad business and so not a United type signing.
He (& his teammates) were crushed by the bad karma of that obscene contract given him by Ed. The obscene weekly wage causing envy. The greed in his play from his goal bonus. The entitlement from his appearance bonus. The suspicions when Mou wouldnt drop him. No wonder the football gods dumped all over this transfer.
