Here are the goal/minute ratio for the top scorers in Serie A:

Trezeguet: 1 goal every 146 minutes.
    Borriello: 1 goal/144 mins.
    Mutu: 1 goal/137 mins.
    Ibrahimovic: 1 goal/123 mins.
    Di Natale: 1 goal/172 mins.
    Totti: 1 goal/152 mins.
    Pandev: 1 goal/193 mins.
    Amauri: 1 goal/229 mins.
    Del Piero: 1 goal/197 mins.
    Rocchi: 1 goal/212 mins.

    Pato: 1 goal/145 mins.
    Gila: 1 goal/271 mins.

EDIT: I threw Gila in there just to marvel at his ineptitude ;)

So Pato only loses to Borrielo, Ibrahimovic and Mutu, but he doesn't take penalties. That's nice.

Milan fans....has Pato fallen short, been about what you thought, or has exceeded expectations?

He has been about what I thought/expected. He was hyped as a saviour for the club this season but that obviously wasn't really going to happen considering his age and experience. He is very talented and he has handled things pretty well up to this point. Not to mention delivering some great results.

i think he can be the best striker in the world in about 5 years
i cant think of any active top player who was already THAT good at age 18

the problem with modern football is that defenders will understand a player with 1-2 years.

Pato will have to be very careful, save the big plays for the big games.

One thing I have always noticed is that a striker at world class level will have 1-2 years and the rest will be average. Henry, Ronaldinho, Sheva ..etc. all exprienced this phenomena.

If Pato wants to peak at the age of 29, he will have to learn to change his style in order avoid predictability.

, henry only had two world class years? sheva only had 1-2 world-class years???

ok, ronaldinho i will give you, at psg, he never fully hit his stride, and then for his first 3 seasons at barca, especially his second and his third, he was dynamite, then he has fallen off the boil some, but that has more to do with his fitness, attitude, and his rapport with the club, and less to do with being figured out.

yeah...henry and sheva both hit their peaks somewhere between the 2002-2005 time.......

henry got two runner up fpy awards I believe
sheva also won some individual trophes in 2004 - 2005

I'm talking about peak performance....the level where fifa/uefa starts noticing you giving individual awards

those fifa/uefa awards are way too arbitrary... sheva was a 30 goal a season striker for multiple years... and his peak wasnt 1-2 years... his form dipped due to injuries, etc in around 2002-2003, and he still managed to win the cl with the final penalty... but before that and after that period he went back to his sensational best... he scored a lot of goals for us, and just because he was given the stupid uefa/fifa trophies only once it does not mean that he was not at his peak...

uefa/fifa have their favorites when the hand out trophies and there was a time when whether or not zidane, figo and beckham had a good season, the would be in the top 3 regardless... the trophies are meaningless..

True. He was the best player in Europe, imo, when he was at Dynamo for a couple years. He was top scorer in the CL during his last year in Kiev(1998/99). He then went to Serie A and immediately was the cappocannieri. From 1997 -2005 he was at the peak of his game. He only had bad years for Milan in 2002 and 2003 but that was down to fitness issues with him. Because when he became fit he helped Milan win the 2003 European Cup.

The same can be said for Henry. He was consistently great for Arsenal for 8 years.

yeah, balotelli is a great talent at 17, i won't deny it, but i'd rather have pato. this is just one guy's opinion, anyways.

    "Inter legend Mario Corso..."

Of course he would say Balotelli is better. Just like any former Milan player will say that Pato is better.

Would Balotelli be the first Black player to play for the Azzurri or does Fabio Liverani own that distinction?
