And Minnesota. Atlanta had too. And Tampa is shooting for one. Not bad, I'd say, about half. But on a on-topic note, I'd love to see it happen. NYC all the way! Would be a great addition to the USL and could prove a great example of creating multiple teams in a city, something severely lacking in North America. If it proves successful, who knows about Toronto or St. Louis or maybe Chicago.
April 1st....we'll all know what's going on.... supposedly that's the press conference. Bad timing on the date though.
Being an old NY Centaurs supporter. I'm looking forward to being back in what was the old A-League. Hopefully the Atlanta team will come back as the Ruckus..
I must admit, of all the weird names taken by various teams (Columbus Xoggz, anyone?) the Ruckus was one of the best.
FC New York Knights, probably not Brooklyn already has Knights: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:New_York_soccer_teams
I hope yall show the New York City area that yall are the true club of New York. The red bulls are painful to watch.
If they keep paying like that... they'll be kicked out of the champions League just like the rest the Mediocre League Soccer teams.... lol
March 26, 2009 NEW TEAM USL to unveil USL-1 team on April 1 The United Soccer League First Division franchise in New York will become a reality when the owners officially announce the franchise at a press conference at the Yale Club in Manhattan on April 1. It will mark the first time a top-level USL team has played in the metro market since the Long Island Rough Riders did in the A-League in 2001. The A-League eventually was changed to USL First Division. The team will be called FC New York.
