Too infuriatingly laid back and nonchalant, even when we are scrambling trying to win games or just generally defend, and up to this day i have no idea what his best position is because other than the odd fantastic goal i can't see where he is productive when i watch him play
I will never know if this is all Asensio could ever be or if his injury turned him into a worse player. But even before the injury, he seemed like an above-average player and nothing else.
Asensio is an absolutely elite striker of the ball, one of the best I’ve ever seen. His technique is phenomenal and the ball just explodes off of his foot with seemingly no effort. That said I never saw what others apparently saw in him, even before the injury. To me he was always likely to be a solid player with some absolutely spectacular moments sprinkled in rather than a real star. To be clear, he’s the sort of player we absolutely need in our squad, but not someone we should be asking to carry a heavy load.
🚨🌖| Spain's Olympic National Team's coaching staff and players are all disappointed in Marco Asensio and believe "he's no longer the player he once was". Asensio could even be benched against Australia. @ElTransistorOC #rmalive— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) July 25, 2021
What player was he? People are making this guy out to be as if we’re hoping he rekindles some sort of elite form he once showed when all we saw was glimpses of potential.
I know he had an injury and came back from that but as mentioned above it was all just moments here and there even before then, can't remember a really consistent season of a decent level, he's mostly just coasted along on supposed potential and he looks it when he's on the pitch, nonchalance epitomised and completely infuriating to watch
Nah Pedro was levels above Asensio. Marco isn’t someone who we need at the club, not any more imo. Especially for the right wing where he’s extremely predictable and often disappears from the game for big stretches.
Capable of a screamer here and there, but overall looks bored on the pitch. Club should look to sell as contract is winding down. We paid peanuts for him so whatever fee we get puts us in the green.
I had high hopes for him, maybe not a starter, but a super attacking sub. Another bad business on the club side. Should have sold when we had the chance.
Weren't there rumors he had offers for like 100ME. If true man Flo really is lost in this transition.
I have said it for years that this guy is just a random left shot. Besides that he gives nothing and does nothing even above average. Totally mystified me seeing how much praise he would get on this forum. If he wasn't scoring a golazo he was doing nothing

He's a very good sub. That's it. I think he's biggest problem is that he actually believe in his own hype.
When Asensio starts. he is below average. He is a much better player off the bench. Even when he had the hype, he scored against the bigger teams as a sub. He is liked Solskjaer or Little Peas. It is just an observation.... I did not go into every games he performed well and did an analysis.
