I have no idea what he contribute to the team.Terrible dribler, weak in defense, cant pass and lack creativity.
Marco Asensio has officially reached 100 La Liga games with Real Madrid. He scored 13 goals. #rmalive pic.twitter.com/xodoWhplG7— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) November 9, 2020
Asensio turns 25 in 2 months and it feels like his best years are behind him. His best seasons were 2016-17 and 2017-18. He’s played over 150 games for the club and we still don’t what his best position is. But we can agree it’s not RW.
Lars Ricken career trajectory. Good player that had an amazing career by being at the right place at the right time.
If you play a 4-4-2 I think Asensio slots in pretty nicely as a traditional LM. I feel it’s from those positions that he’s had the best moments/games for us. Central is supposed to be his natural position but when he has been asked to play off the main striker he’s been very quiet. The RW role is terrible for him. We’re forcing it because inverted wingers are the go to move nowadays but it’s never something which suited him. The inverted winger is meant to add unpredictability to a teams attack but it has the opposite effect with Asensio there.

I don't want to be that guy but Asensio getting all those great reviews in the press got me thinking about when Kroos was getting slammed in the press and simply said "I know who I have to give info to or something exclusive for it to become strictly positive reporting, I just decided to stop reading them instead". I feel like this recent "oh my god, Asensio is elite" wave of the regional press wasn't based on field performance.
Asensio switches off defensively too regularly to play anywhere on the wing, especially with our offensive fullbacks.
Another Isco in the sense that no one really knows what his best position is. Asensio was had for peanuts, if he's alright with being a squad player I don't see any issue here. Any sale would be gravy.
Yeah based on Fati injury, but he should be in the squad in my opinion with their current squad depth.
I say we sell him if we get Mbappe. Not sure where he fits once we get Mbappe as the front three most likely will be Hazard - Benzema - Mbappe and I doubt Asensio would accept a bench role at this point in his career.
Asensio will definitely accept a bench spot. The guy is comfortable and happy with what he has and is not looking for more. His comments on every interview show that he doesn't want more responsibility and is not crazy ambitious.
First time you and I agree on something lol. I'd get rid of all the Spaniard subs. Isco, Asensio, LV...
