It’s wild they made him fly all the way to London to meet when he lives just outside of Rome :alien:

Good luck to him. In his first stint he wasn’t afraid to take on the senators, hopefully he still has that in him

This has to be the most Italian move ever. Typical Italian fashion instead of giving DDR a young coach a season they’ed rather bring in a retired coach to finish out the season then start the whole project over again in the summer with someone else…

Typical Italian move started by a Greek and finished by an American.

Curious what the conditions, if any, they gave Ranieri for this year. If they are smart, they should have told him that the kids like Soule, Baldanzi and Pisilli need as much game time as possible. Get them as much experience as you can this year.

There’s no benefit at this point to play Paredes or any of the older guys if they are just leaving at the end of the season.

Claudio was probably bored in retirement anyway.

Although this change brings back a little hope, I've lost all faith in a lot of these players. I remain unconvinced by some of our recent signings. I like Kone and Baldanzi and there's potentially a good player in Soule I think. Hopefully Claudio can get a tune out of this squad and restore some of that faith in the rest.

I'll be really disappointed if the senators rule the roost again, but it's been rumoured Ranieri will take up a director's role come the end of the season. Hopefully with that he'll be looking on for the future and not just trying to appease this team for the sake of harmony.

Do you see Dybala in that too? He's undoubtedly our best player but his future hasn't been certain since the Saudi called back in August.

That and it's impossible for him to reject Roma.

The team is American-owned. What's Italy to do with this?

The correct move was for the Friedkins to fly to Rome since this is where Ranieri lives and the club is located to put pen to paper. Instead they have him fly to London? Absolute fools.

This player Saud... is he there because Roma's shirt sponsors had a say?

Don't do anything all summer but in the last week have to resort to panic buys. Idiotic.

These suits running things over there need to get their heads out their asses. This is self-inflicted.

As long as they don't bring Ro$ella Sensi to replace her Greek sister, we're moving in the right direction.

As for Claudio - the first time I went on a Roma game was with him coaching. So naturally it was a boring draw. And it was over 15 years ago... time flies I guess.

I hope he has a good time managing the club. We're fu**ed either way, as long as we're at least in the middle of the table at the end of the season, it's a success.

What's wrong with Rosella? I wouldn't mind having her as CEO, to be honest. She knows the environment like the back of her hand and I can't see her doing any worse than Souloukou.

If we had someone in the management who could tell the owners that it's probably a bad idea to sack the coach, who also happens to be a club legend, after giving him a 3 year contract, perhaps we wouldn't be in this mess right now.

I liked Rosella Sensi and because of it was constantly ridiculed on the boards when praising her when she was in power.

She was the one who first hired Ranieri in September 2009, the first time when Spalletti suddenly quit.

As far as league placements anyway, she got Roma to second place in 4 out of 5 seasons she was in charge.

Roma got a few second place spots from 2013-2017 but that was about it.

Claudio Ranieri è atterrato a Fiumicino. Ad attenderlo circa 300 tifosi giallorossi che hanno intonato cori per lui [IMG]

Because Italians have issues letting the young have time to grow into positions. All this nonsense of giving DDR a 3 year contract getting him players to then letting him go and brining someone out of retirement to finish the season makes no sense. DDR probably wouldn’t of done any worse than what’s going on now probably would of gotten the team going given time.

The same Ro$ella who sold Aquilani to Liverpool for peanuts telling the Friedkins how wrong it is to get rid of a club's Roman heart? I don't think so.

She was our worst president and single-handedly put the club into a decade of ruin by delaying the sale of the club and milking it for every euro her family could legally drain from it, while selling off anyone with at least one leg still at the club.

Taking away the Conference league trophy and the Europa League loss, the Sensi's fared better in the league than either Pallotta or Friedkin.

    Players, sure. Agreed there.

But the DDR angle was an American ownership group with a French DOF.

I would prioritize Dybala for Europa League and Coppa Italia in the off chance they win those. But ya, he’s a hard one to bench if he’s fit in general.
