Rapidsfan has an update today about the first game for ReAL being vs. Colorado as the start of a rivalry. Thought you might want to know.

Anyone interested in creating an Alpine Cup (ala the Brimstone Cup)?

Like I said before, I think it should be called the Highlanders Cup.

Oh...and I just want to know that I hate everything about Utah, including their team.

But I will be nice until April, after that I look forward to traveling to Rice-Eccles to see them get compltely destroyed by Rapids FC in front of their home crowd. :D

You've been our arch-nemesis for a couple months already. Apparently unbeknownst to you. :D

So will that be our first game of the season? Meaning it will be held in Colorado? We already know our first game of the season will be an away game... or that's what we've been told. Is that source of information reliable?

Odd, we at Rapidsfan have been told that our first game of the season will be an away game against you. Maybe they've decided it will be Colorado - SLC, but not where yet?

Yeah we were told we'd have our first one or two games on the road before returning for our home opener.

Anyway I think we RSL Loyalists have discussed starting some sort of cup between us and the Rapids fans... I think it would be great. Anyone else?

The posting on Rapidsfan.com is this:

This leads me to believe it will be the first home game for SLC, not the season opener.

Ah, there's my problem, I missed the word home. I read it as "first game" and with the news item talking about road trip for Colorado fans it was obviously referring to a game at SLC.

I'm willing to chip in and help from the Rapids side. Though as not a resident of either SLC or Denver, I don't think I should be the ultimate coordinator for the Colorado fans. I'll post a thread over on the Rapids forum to get some interest started though.

For that to happen the Crapids would actually have to score! Unless Joe Cannon can figure out a way to start scoring goals, I like our chances. By the way, regardless of how much you wish it was, Rapids FC isn't your team name. It's time to step back into reality and realize that your team can't score and your name sucks. :D

I guess it's fan bias that allows me to like the name. I figured you guys would understand after all these years of living with a AAA baseball name.

Jason they don't have a AAA baseball name, they have a AAA baseball TEAM! Royce Clayton? Are you kidding me??

Rapids fans do you realize that we have won the MLS cup just as many times as you have?

Come back after you have played a game, or two. Ohh, and this is bigsoccer.com, baseball can be found around the corner where no one cares.
Wait, what professional sports do you have, only basketball? Ohh, I forgot.

Could be worse. Atleast we don't have the Nuggets. Wait, what GOOD professional sports teams do YOU have, only the Broncos? 1 for 5?

Good call. Jazz rocked the Nuggets twice in one week. Gonna be more of the same with SLC's new soccer team beating up on the Rapids. I bet the Salt Lake Stingers could beat the Rockies too. Basically, Utah's better than Colorado in almost all respects.

    2 Western Conference Championships
    2 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS

    Say what, now?

And I wouldn't get too happy about the Jazz either. Talent wise your team sucks ass outside of Boozer and you punks did NOT make the playoffs last year either, remember?

LOL...we're like maybe 2 weeks into the NBA and you saps are gettin all happy like you've accomplished something, haha! Get lost! Why don't you do the right thing and just secede from the union? It's not like anyone gives a sh!t about Utah, lol.

    SLC=The wannabe Denver.

I was debating on whether or not to even include the NHL because it seems that no one knows if the league will even be around next year.

The Jazz barely missed the playoffs for this first time in 20 years. The Nugs barely made the playoffs for the first time in who remembers how long. The Jazz consistently out perform expectations and win with players that are considered (unjustly) to be inferior. The Nugs consistently underperform with players (on their current roster) that are considered (unjustly) to be superior.

You get one hot-head malcontent (Melo) and a couple of NY rejects and you think you can hang. If only the Jazz could play the Nugs every night... The only people that consider that a rivalry are those that live on your side of the mountains.

Now that is funny. It would be difficult to have a winning team in any sport or league after losing the second leading scorer in history AND the all time assist leader. What was/is Denver's reason for sucking so bad?

The facts: Denver is 2-5 and the Jazz are 5-1, Jazz just beat the defending champions by 15 (up by 20 at the half).

And if you think the Jazz are just Boozer, can you say all star? His name is Kirilenko.

MLS will be the same, Denver wishing for a good team while SLC has one.

Denver WISHING for a good team? lol

We may not have any MLS cups yet but we DO have hardware. Western conference champs, anyone?

And I can't believe you losers actually think you will be able to compete at ALL this season. The western conference will be stronger than ever now that Chivas is coming in. Hell you might as well just play for the Superdraft next season because that's where you'll be going along with FC Dallas.

Stop trying to copy us, dorks. :p

Alpine Cup is an EXCELLENT name IMO.

Could they be playing both their first game (road) and first home game against each other?

But apparently you did include the NHL. 1 for 5
And you still only mention the Broncos. Can't have it both ways.
How can you not include the Avalanche? They're a powerhouse.
You lose all credibility in your arguments just from that.

I would love to be a power house in a league that doesn't play games...
The Avs are what 0-0 this year just like the rest of their non-exhistent league. NHL won't play a game this year and probably not most of next year either. Lord Stanley's Cup most likely has found his final resting place and I could be wrong, but it isn't in Denver is it (seems like it is in Florida somewhere, perhaps Tampa Bay).

The Jazz were last in their division last season.

Remember, you don't have any players yet. Don't think it will take one season to be good in MLS. Don't think you'll win the MLS Cup as an expansion team.
