La Liga. Guess Lucas wasn't big enough name for them to win Clasico MVP and robbed him.

Been saying for a long time that he has more than earned a renewal to continue to be Dani’s backup.

Short term, 1 or 2 years at wages favorable to the club. His play and his experience are assets for the locker room.

Folks were clamoring for Cancelo. Lucas has been at a higher level for most of this season

Cancelo's being a defensive liability cost Barca many points in first half of the season. RM killed two birds with one stone by not going for him last summer. :D

Agreed, and this is why I fear FB’s who are ordinary in most aspects off the ball, no matter their attacking prowess
Agreed, although he may not play a massive role on the pitch, i think LV is invaluable in the squad as a whole, outside the pitch too, he seems to get along well with all the players including making all the newer younger players feel welcome,

I think he plays a big part in the level of camaraderie meshing the Spanish and foreign, older and young players together, I don’t know for sure of course but that’s how it comes across to me and that togetherness is important

It's incredible how averse to meh the reaction was to him returning and how influential he's been over the years. While i do think his commitment and character carried him over rougher patches, on the other hand i do think he has always been willing to sacrifice more than others.

Kind of a case where you can tell young players you casn't all be Ronaldo or Modric, but you can potentially be a Lucas Vazquez.

Yea. Lucas was fairly unknown despite playing in La Liga for Espanyol. Callejon made headlines in his stint there so many were excited when he returned as squad player. Kinda like Fran Garcia at Rayo. Wasn't the case with Lucas.

Brahim Diaz is someone whom folks in this forum liked as Asensio replacement while many on Twitter was moaning so much as if one needs to be superstar at Milan to be squad player at RM.

Absolutely loved Marcelo one of my favourites but as I’ve said before there’s a reason why back in the day people complained about how open that left side was when we didn’t have the ball, and why Coentrao started some big games for us despite Marcelo being available, bottom line i’d say though is , none of the FB’s being discussed now, IMHO, are in Marcelo’s league, so there’s also that to consider, but I get your point.

Meant to post this the other day during the game against Atletico. Thank you for all you've done for the club, Lucas. It is time. Hope the summer transfer window is kind.

His contract will expire in June, 2025, right? He should walk out in the middle of the World Cup Club.

Love his passion and his "I can do anything you asked me to" - only that physically, he can't anymore...

A good reminder about L.Vazquez and how big of a quiet factor he was for us during the three-peat. Made losing Bale to injuries as painless as possible, and he was actually a decent winger.

Bit sad he didn't get a proper send-off, but then again, maybe he would only feel eclipsed by Modric and Ancelotti leaving anyway. Just like his quiet professional service in our shirt, his exit will be the same. But real ones remember the legend of Lord Vazquez.

He added 16 goals to those 40 assists.

Many fans have been very frustrated seeing him play week in week out as a left back this year, a position he is not best suited for. But we should not forget what he did for us.

Lucas Vazquez is a Madrid legend and no one tell you otherwise. Absolute heart of a champion pumping white blood. Without players like Lucas Vazquez on the squad, you are winning shit no matter all the Mbappes and Vinis.

Best of luck to Lucas Vazquez. He was an absolute warrior who would crawl through the depths of hell for this team to win. The last season does not blemish his body of work. This guy converted from a Right winger to a Rightback simply so he could benefit the team. Meanwhile Tchouameni gets upset when they are asked to play in the back 4 or Alaba when he us asked to play LB. That should give us perspective just how much Lucas sacrificed. Real ones will always love and respect, Lucas. I hope nothing but the best for him. A silent stalwart of this club. We were lucky to have him.

I'm not sad that Lucas Vasquez is leaving. I'd be lying if I said otherwise.

A good player. He did himself and the club an injustice by continuing to play at a position that is beyond his capabilities and limits. The board and coaches shoulder a lot of the blame here.

Alas, thank you for the good times. I wish him the best in his career wherever it may be. But FFS, Lucas, don't tell them you're a RB.

Lucas Vazquez could be the best bench player in Perez's era. I could not think of another player who did so much a 10 year period. Nacho might be closest.

My best memory of him was the 2016 CL Final. It was his first full season with the first team. I don't understand Sopanish. So, I had no idea what was being discussed in the video. I recalled another video of his parents watching in the stand in horror as he stepped up calmly spinning the ball with his finger. As a father, I could understand that emotion. "Stop that spinning and shoot the ball," I could hear myself yelling at my own son.

He served the club very well and was a pretty decent winger, despite the criticism he earned later in his career while playing out of position.
    Best of luck to him.

All kids dream of being a star growing up, but the reality is, the chance of even being a Lucas Vazquez tier pro in this game is a one in a million chance, and Lucas always played and behaved like he was fully aware of that and never sold short on effort.
