76' 2-1 Taylor spin-and-volleys at 6-top right, wide left as McLeod dives and misses. 76' 2-1 Masar hooks a roundhouse lob to McCarty at box top wide left. McCarty drives down box left vs. Dunn, Dunn slide-pokes over. 77' 2-2 Houston left corner, Ochs curls it to 6m right post, Ohale outjumps 2 and turns it just inside right post, past Harris's fingertips and dropping into right back low.
78' 2-2 Dunn crosses one-touch from 15m wide right -- to nobody at 12m 6-left. 78' 2-2 Krieger chips to Taylor through box to mid-right. Hein charges out, but Taylor pokes past her at box top. Taylor chases to 8m mid-right, McLeod charges and gets big, Taylor pokes wide right into side netting. Goal mouth was wide open, but maybe McLeod had that angle covered.
80' 2-2 Adams fouled at circle top. Krieger(?) sails it too far to 13m right post, McLeod catches. 81' 2-2 Nairn chips from circle top right through mid-left for Taylor to chase into box. McLeod charges across, Taylor pokes ball at 7m mid-left, McLeod dives late and grabs a shin (or so the ref saw). Taylor sprawls and rolls. PK ... 82' 2-2 Washington pk, Matheson right instep to 1/4 right low, McLeod falls on it.
83' 2-2 Dunn sprints through box top left to 7m, squares to Taylor at 11m 6-left, one-touch left instep volley just wide left. 84' 2-2 Washington to Dunn up right touch. 2-v-1, but McCarty steals! 85' 2-2 Houston switches, Ohai drives up box right. 88' 2-2 Adams curls a cross from 25m wide right to 14m arc left, headed out. McCarty has time, inexplicably chips a mooncross to nobody -- Adams collects it. 89' 2-2 Washington cross from 25m box left, too far and McLeod catches high at 8m. +3'. 89' 2-2 Washington pass to Taylor at 14m mid-left, Ohale takes it away.
90' 2-2 Houston fouled at midfield right touch. Free kick to Masar facing away, but 1-v-3 and loses it. 90' 2-2 Houston longball up centerline, Ohai on-or-off? She's behind, to 25m -- Harris comes out above box arc top and heads it clear! 90+1' (of +3') 2-2 Ball bounces to Lindsey at 20m arc left. She blasts across the mouth -- past McLeod's dive, off crossbar upper right 90 and bounces out.
90+2' (of +3') 3-2 Nairn at circle top, back to Huster. Forward pass to Nairn, she touches to 27m mid-left in a big pocket, blasts left foot across the mouth -- over and beyond McLeod's dive, golaaaaazo into the upper right back. FT 3-2. Whole lot of Washington running downhill in the last ~20'.
Well that's it for the Dash. Their season is almost shot at this point. Maybe the league can combine the Dash and Breakers into one team and have them played the rest of the season. Their defense will still be shit though
This streamed game had to be the worst of the season! We don't need replays while teams are in the final third trying to score. We don't need close-ups of the Coaches! We don't need 4 different camera angles. We just need a picture with the ball in the middle. Washington get your AV organized! Did any of DC Coaches remind the players that the Dash played a game 2 days ago and they might be tired? LAZY LAZY LAZY! IMHO DC was lucky to win this game! Obviously!
The camera work this game have to be the worst I have seen in the history of NWSL. If someone told me the camera man was controlling the camera with one hand and eating a hot dog in the other, I'll believe them. We missed all the important action because either they were too slow or showing something unrelated
Washington is just an odd team - they score goals and actually a decent amount but they give up goals and usually at the worse time, frequently shortly after they score or at the end of a half. But after 9 games this team is in a decent position. Probably a long shot at getting the 4th play off spot but they may be in the conversation later in the season.
They've gotten somewhat fortunate that a large chunk of their matches have been at home. Now they will be on the road for 8 of their next 10. If they come away from those matches with a decent number of points, a playoff spot won't be out of the realm of possibility.
Spirit will not be making the playoffs this year, but it's nice to see a forward (Jodie Taylor) coming on. Nairn is living up to her hype out of college finally, and Dunn is a force. I still think the Spirit need one more dynamic forward. Somehow acquiring Brian won't hurt either. In fact, they are a Brian, Horan, and Cutshall away from being a championship contender in this league. They should try to trade for Cutshall, move up in the draft to draft Brian, and flaunt some money at Horan.
Not all of them are bad. Providence and BBVA have nice pitches. Harvard and Benedictine are crap, though. And the Fortress falls in the middle.
My personal nickname for the WNY home pitch. I call it that because the Flash are almost unbeatable at home.
Yeah, they're almost unbeatable there - but considering they lost in the most important game there last year, I think it lost its "fortress" moniker. =-)
