Wow. 3-0. I might have to reduce my level of disgust for the Breakers built up over the last 10-12 years.
52' 3-0 Leon chips quickly from 24m wide right to bounce through box top mid-right for Dowie chasing unmarked. Dowie lets it bounce twice in front of her, blasts the third drop one-touch into back left edge high. Seattle's backline are getting repeatedly caught high, and are no match for Boston's new speed.
I have a feeling it will be a bipolar season for Seattle. Mostly disappointing results, with occasional flashes of their former glory like last week's 5-1 win. Memorial Stadium is still a difficult place to win for opponents.
Twice- a 3-0 win over Washington in 2013 and a 4-1 win over Portland in 2014. Boston led 4-0 in the second game before Portland pulled one back.
Congrats to Boston. They were the better team and there's no other team (well maybe FCKC) that I rather lose to. As for Seattle, other than Rapinoe everyone else have put in a lack lustre performance and keep hanging their head.
Did you not watch NWSL last year in 2016? Did you not watch the 2012 U-20 Women's World Cup? Did you miss her entire college career?
And the biggest bust to ever come out of college in the pro ranks was Kerri Hanks. The biggest bust for a #1 overall draft pick was Zakiya Bywaters. Kealia is certainly now living up to being the #2 overall pick.
gdi Waldrum killing my nerves. Subs shoulda been earlier rather than this time wasting bs with 5m left
Or jealous for all those UNC National Championships that Florida State does not have. But then again, FSU has had UNC's number recently. For awhile, FSU was the French Women's National team of NCAA soccer, in under-achieving. But they finally did win an NCAA Title, but still just one overall for all that international talent they've had.
I'm flabbergasted at Boston's performance. Great performance by Abby Smith in goal. Adriana Leon, who I always thought of as a marginal player, suddenly looked like the best forward in the league. Rose Lavelle amazes me with her speed on the ball. Fishlock was mediocre for Seattle (probably the first time I've ever said that). Nobody else was much better, except Rapinoe who put in a lot of dangerous crosses. . .
I picked Fishlock on my fantasy team. Seattle players always have opposite days when I have them on my team.
Hopefully Boston will still be bad enough to get a high enough draft pick to get Rachel Corboz. Lavelle and Corboz would be amazing together. I think Andi Sullivan is the best player in the draft, and the better national team prospect. But you get the feeling Corboz may end up being the better club player of the two. Corboz could be the rookie of the year in 2018. Andi Sullivan goes to Washington or an expansion team. Corboz to Boston.
These comments by @Ashlyn_Harris after the Pride's loss today to @TheNCCourage are, well, 🔥💯🔥 https://t.co/fttGsKysA5 pic.twitter.com/FgaYjo1Bfs— Neil Morris (@ByNeilMorris) April 30, 2017 Welp.....
If you took the entire 2008 UNC women's soccer team and put them on the same NWSL team: Where do they finish in the table? F - Jessica McDonald F - Casey Loyd (Nogueira) F - Courtney Jones F/MF - Tobin Heath MF - Nikki Washington MF - Ali Hawkins MF - Yael Averbuch MF - Allie Long D - Meghan Klingenberg D - Merritt Mathias D - Kristi Eveland D - Whitney Engen D - Rachel Givan D - Rachel Wood GK - Ashlyn Harris This team gets to the playoffs. Especially if Casey Loyd still has something left in the tank as a clutch super sub.
The complaining about the PKs awarded to Portland is ridiculous. Two weeks ago and this, defending players made some of the dumbest plays of all time. A defender having her arms waiving out from her body in the box when the attacking team kicks the ball is just plain stupid. It's worth noting that the players on whom the PKs were called did not complain. The knew very well they would get called if the ref saw it.
This result shows it takes a lot of time to turn a team round, unless you are a magician, took a year to Laura Harvey to turn things round at Reign as well. The good thing is coaches are given a bit of time to build thier team.
