In the Houston-KC game, Mullan just missed the far post on a long range shot - still scoreless after 23 minutes. Guerrero is a classy guy, and I have to feel sorry for him going down like that. Ugly looking anke injury, courtesy of Mr. Turf. Still down after five minutes, and to be stretchered off. Shep: "I don't want to hear any more nonsense from the synthetic surface companies about how safe their products are." Fun stuff early from Doe. In Houston, a good Mullan cross is blasted over the net by DeRosario.
Nice play by Dane Richards to work through traffic and get the ball to an open Angel, who one times it to the far post through Matt Pickens' hands and into the net. 1-0 New York, 15 minutes to go.
It sounds pretty good - they haven't shown much in the way of crowd shots, so I am not entirely sure. Clark with a nice header on goal off a Mullan cross; Hartman saves well. Still scoreless there approaching halftime.
Against the run of play, Eddie Johnson nets a goal off a nifty pair of passes from Michael Harrington and Scott Sealy, to Johnson in the perfect place in the middle of the box to slot home. It as the first minute of stoppage time; Dominic Kinnear tossed for yelling at the ref following about four yellows to his players in the first half. Ben Olsen with a second goal in DC.
Dallas has to be frustrated. They've arguably outplayed DC for most of the half, yet are down 2-0. Of course, last time these two played, they scored 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd half.
I know Bornstein is the BigSoccer darling, but as Burch gains more experience, is he USMNT material? Is he pacy enough? Because he has a sweet cross.
If Denilson gets in, will someone post? I think most of us are saying "Houston, hello" at the moment.
Very nice run into space by Ngwenya, who collects DeRosario's pass and smashes home near post to level the game in Houston.
DeRo did well to wait for the opportunity and capitalize. I would've been here first, but someone PM'd me.
Denilson didn't get the ball for about five minutes. He then had some very nice back heels. But, as jason1551 said, to no effect. Expect to see every MLS player attempting backheels next week.
Denilson gets his first MLS yellow for shoving a ball in Moreno's face. I bet Riquelme would have had a red by now.
Who says you have to be in MLS -- I try them all the time. At my age, it's easier than changing direction.
I seem to recall Beckham getting a yellow early on in his first MLS match,. He made it de rigeur for all new DPs, naturally. Ever the trend-setter.
Yes - it didn't look at first as if Ngwenya was going to make the run at all. He had moved left and was well covered, then seemed to catch DeRo's eyes and so made the run that led to the goal.
