    37' 0-0

    [BOS-ORL]
08' 0-1 Marta right ck, to 6m 1/3 left, Camila contested header goes away to box top mid-left. Catley bicycle to arc left, Krieger side-heads to 11m left post. Oyster(?) clearance header goes square right, bounces untouched through 3 to 8m right post. Morgan reacts better, gets right foot past Stengel, half-volley block past A.Smith frozen, into back left low. Why is Stengel marking Morgan in her own box?

Awful first half from NC. Washington should be leading.

46' 1-0 Washington clears to circle top. Dahlkemper eventually passes to Zerboni at circle top right, she turns ands goes to 30m box right, diagonal out-pass to Hamilton at box top wide right. Hamilton works self through box right to 12m mid-right, gentle cross past spot -- Kleiner swings and whiffs. Ball bounces to Hatch at 10m left post, perfect ball-stop and a precise finish, right instep just inside left post low.

84' 2-0 NC left ck, inswing becomes a dive down to 2m 2/5 right. Labbé gets caught up behind the scrum at 1/3 left, distracted by Zerboni front-cutting her, jumps to slap but gets her hands up late, misses completely. Ball continues untouched, hits L.Williams's noggin facing away, reflects hard off Kallman's face at 4m center -- and renbounds into center back 1/3 high. Cruel but true: that's a textbook o.g., as the ball was anti-frameward until Kallman's touch. Post defenders Dydasco and Huster are left standing shellshocked: they covered their parts.

    FT 2-0.

[BOS-ORL] Wow, a wacky sequence led to ... a loss of situational awareness.
71' 0-1 Boston clears to circle back. White slide-tackles Kennedy late, ball bounces off her own hand. After the whistle, Andrews blasts ball upfield. Yellow card on Andrews.

    71' 0-1 Boston subs in:
    - (1 of 3) #19 Adriana Leon for #2 Allysha Chapman
    - (2 of 3) #9 Natasha Dowie for #23 Katie Stengel. OK, who's marking whom ...

72' 0-1 Still dead ball, A.Smith is way up at her own 35m yapping at ref. Trainer comes out and ...
72'01" 0-1 ... escorts Oyster into near touch. Spot of blood somewhere? OK, by rule ... but now who's marking Oyster's zone at RCB?

72'21" 3' 0-2 Krieger fk from circle top, chip to box top arc left for Morgan sneaking behind R.White -- welcome to grad school, rook, I'm Professor Morgan. Morgan chests ball down into own stride, one-touch half-volley chip from ~15m left post -- bit of a mishit, but it's a perfect lob over A.Smith running a curl but not even jumping, drops through right 90 and follows the slanted back right pipe down into back right low. No way she meant to do that :notworthy:

76' 0-2 Boston subs in (3 of 3, last in career) #5 Amanda Da Costa for #25 Morgan Andrews.

90+6' (of +4') 0-2 Onumonu receives an outlet through midfield box left, weaves her way to 27m. Pass to arc tangent right for Dowie facing away, she chases her own chest trap to 22m and passes square right to Da Costa at arc top mid-right. Da Costa passes flat diagonal right to 15m box right, Leon comes into box and Fields slide-tackles just-late, takes out her rear support leg. Leon stays down ...

90+8' (of +4') 0-2 Leon pulled to feet by trainers, walks into near touch unassisted.

90+8' (of +4') 1-2 Da Costa pk, right instep blast rising into 1/5 left 1/2 high, over Harris's dive.

FT 1-2. Da Costa should leave her cleats at circle center, like wrestlers do.

Sky Blue starts Tiernan up top; Kerr is (c) with Pearce out through accumulated injuries (and Dominique Richardson is RCB). I might have guessed Lytle would be (c) on tenure -- but Kerr really might be the ranking vet for this line-up.

Seattle starts Katlyn Johnson at CF (this matters :D). Utsugi is indeed LM (and Fishlock is RM -- surely they'll switch on the fly as needed).

03' 0-1 Seattle right throw-in at circle top, Kawasumi sees RB Skroski is nowhere, runs into that space -- Stanton must chase from a poor angle. Mathias sees same, quickly heaves it up wide right -- Stanton goes for the interception and misses, ball bounces into Kawasumi's stride. Kawasumi follows ball to 4m wide right, Stanton overtakes (this does matter), ground cross backpass to 9m 3-right. Richardson shields off K.Johnson at 6-top right post, but leaves her alone to go to the cross. Utsugi splits 2 through arc right, one-touch left foot shot to 5m center -- deflects off K.Johnson's right cheek :D, totally wrong-foots Sheridan already diving centerward, into back right low behind her. If we can't score pretty goals, we'll take ugly ones :inlove:

08' 0-1 Sky Blue subs in (1 of 3) #16 Sarah Killion for #11 Raquel Rodríguez.

18' 0-2 Kawasumi left ck, to 3m center. Sheridan comes out and slaps at ball -- but misses? Fishlock totally back-cuts Tiernan through 6-top right, leaps past her to 3m 2-right, ball hits her in the sternum and rebounds perfectly into center back low.

45+2' (of +1') 0-3 Kawasumi switches left to Utsugi at centerline, she switches left to Nairn at 24m wide left. Nairn whips a high cross from arc top wide left, K.Johnson flashes across 6-top left post and hops way below the flight path, but it freezes Sheridan in place. Ball bounces untouched at 4m center to 2m 5-right as Sheridan scrambles to her left post, , Kawasumi slide-volleys downward past Skroski's block-try -- ball bounces up into Sheridan's arms as she sits downward, pops up just inside right post and lands in behind her.

48' 1-3 Skroski passes square right to Stanton, she chips long inside-out down wide right for Mills overlapping to 1m. Mills sails a cross to 8m 5-left, Skroski jumps over Tiernan and heads across to 6m 1/3 right. Stott plays ball off her left inner thigh to 6m center, steps up and misses a clearance, Kerr right outstep dink rolls through traffic just inside left post low, past Kopmeyer's dive.

62' 1-3 Seattle subs in (1 of 3) #6 Lindsay Elston for #2 Christine Nairn.

68' 2-3 Corboz hoofs long from own 30m circle left to 35m circle right, drops perfectly into Kerr's stride in a 1-v-1 on Pickett -- we're not winning that race :p Kerr touches to 14m 6-right, jukes endline-ward to 8m 6-right to spin Pickett again, blasts right instep low across mouth past Kopmeyer, into left back low. Here we go again :coffee:

70' 2-3 Seattle subs in (2 of 3) #5 Kiersten Dallstream for #17 Beverly Yanez. Oh, lead, we hardly knew ye --

71' 3-3 Skroski outlets up left touch to Killion at own 25m. Killion turns and hoofs past midfield to Kerr facing away at halfcircle front wide left. Kerr spins to ball, collects and accelerates past Stott no match for her, dribbles fast to arc top with McNabb and Pickett retreating before her -- always giving soft 2m separation. Kerr shoots right instep bend from arc tangent left outside McNabb, past Kopmeyer partially screened and running a half-curl but not diving -- perfect wraparound into right side netting 2/3 high, and running along back of net like a coin in a vortex.

Ms. Kerr, she always does this to ... everybody

72' 3-3 Sky Blue subs in (2 of 3) #5 Maya Hayes for #73 Madison Tiernan.

83' 3-3 Seattle subs in (3 of 3) #3 Lauren Barnes for #33 Katlyn Johnson, who hobbles like her quads are tight.

85' 3-4 Mills right throw-in at own box top -- somehow promptly lost. Fishlock receives facing away at 19m mid-left, sees Utsugi running past her through the high line at box top -- instantly turn-and-pass perfect through-ball to 10m 6-left. Sheridan slides out, Utsugi shoots from 7m 6-left, blocked by Sheridan's legs. Ball pops up to 12m 3-left, Dallstream hop-traps, touches to 10m left post, snipes right instep into center 3/4 high with net still empty.

86' 3-4 Sky Blue subs in (3 of 3) #2 McKenzie Meehan for #15 Kayla Mills.

90+1' (of +4') 4-4 Richardson chips from 24m mid-right, Stott whiffs on a clearance at 8m right post. Ball bounces untouched off Kerr's right outstep at 6m center -- even she wasn't ready for that. Kerr chases through 6-right, backpass to Richardson at 12m box right. One-touch cross to 6m center, Hayes outwrestles Barnes and gets behind her, stoop-heads across mouth into left side netting low. They're scoring so fast, the NWSL video-to-Twitter person can't keep up :speechless: and neither can I

90+3' (of +4') 4-4 Killion chips from 27m box right to 15m arc left, Corboz settles ball as Kawasumi overruns it on a header-away try. Corboz shoots right instep from 13m 6-left, Stott slide-blocks. Meehan collects at arc tangent left, chases to box top 2/5 left and shoots rising into traffic -- into Barnes' right forearm not tucked against torso (even though her elbow was). Ref blows ball dead and points to spot for handball -- ball bounces to Corboz unmarked at 14m left post, she shoots right instep just inside left post low. Well, Kawasumi and McNabb already stopped playing at the whistle, didn't try to block.

90+4' (of +4') 4-4 Kerr pk, right instep rising, off crossbar hard, bounces down and over Kerr, Fishlock bicycle-clears away. Richardson cuts past Dallstream, dribbles to arc top mid-right, dumps ball into the scrum. McNabb misjudges the bounce, shanks a clearance off her left foottop up toward own right 90
90, Kopmeyer dives and pushes it over endline right.

90+4' (of +4') 5-4 Lytle right ck, to 6-top left post. Hayes jumps into Fishlock and Stott's backs and takes their space away, Kerr arm-pushes backpedaling McNabb out of the judo circle for ippon and goes through her to arrive and jump alongside Hayes. Ball goes off Kerr's head, off Hayes' head, bloop mini-lob against the inbound vector, drops just inside right post. That's a hat trick with accessory :alien: or two hats

FT 5-4. These two teams, we can't stop each other :whistling:

Only the Bozos at FIFA would not choose Kerr as Player of the Year.

14' 1-0 Horan switches left across circle top to Klingenberg, then backcuts unwary Beckie still jogging, leaves her 5m behind. Klingenberg cuts inside to 23m box left, chips to 5m 1/3 right as Horan continues right up centerline unnoticed. Campbell stays on line, Horan spike-heads a bouncer crosscourt :p to 1m center, bounces up between Campbell's kick-try and glove-reach, into 1/4 left back 1/2 high.

48' 2-0 Portland cross from ~arc top wide right to arc left, Sinclair chest-traps centerward, hooks ball left-then-right past Poliana. Ball trickles past spot rightward, Henry settles and shoots across mouth, Campbell dive-blocks through 6-left. Ball stays in, Nadim chases it to 3m wide left as pressure arrives late. Quick cross to 7m center, Henry lunge-heads into 1/4 right 2/3 high, above Campbell's lean.

79' 2-0 Houston fk at 32m mid-right. Daly runs a curl around Horan and Menges, cuts inside in front of Sinclair, Sonnett ran under the screen and meets her at 16m. They bump, Daly extends left arm high and pushes Sonnett away with hand to jaw. Free kick sails to 9m center, Henry heads away. Sonnett rears back and falls, holding nose. Straight red card on Daly: she was on a yellow, but that was dealt directly from the back pocket.

There was not nearly enough contact from Daly for Sonnett to fall back the way she did. I'm sorry, but that was a flop. Now Daly has to sit a game for a BS reason.

I agree Corboz has been excellent this year. This game also seems to signal a return to form of Lytle. He was excellent as an undrafted rookie, then seemed to disappear after a broken leg, but she was good in this game. Excellent corner kicks -- and maybe she should be taking PKs instead of Killion and Kerr, neither of whom have excelled at that task.

It must be about 10,000 to one that two games in the same season with the same teams could turn out 5-4 in both cases.

I'm watching the Chicago-KC game and, frankly, I'm getting disgusted with Press. Throughout the season, she has taken too many low percentage shots when she should pass. Hopefully, Dames will get on her case and she'll do better in the second half.

Shea Groom has a lot of talent -- who can't stay out of trouble.

    [CHI-KC]
KC posts a 4-2-3-1 with Leroux as the 1, Ratcliffe-Bowen-Groom behind her.
CHI starts the usual, including Naeher and Yuki Nagasato (instead of Hoy/Mautz/McCaffrey).

23' 0-1 Bowen backpass up right touch, Colaprico pokes ball out. B.Taylor right throw-in at 30m, to Groom coming away to 26m with Colaprico on her back. Groom dribbles away to 29m, then runs a simple curl between Ertz and Colaprico -- they both pull up and let her go  Groom meanders uncontested to 19m mid-right, Leroux times her cut through box top right post between Gilliland and Naughton too widely separated. Groom dinks a perfect through-ball to 15m 3-right, Leroux turns back to face ball and, for once, her right instep clang is perfectly into space where only she has the angle to chase it -- to 9m 4-right, one-touch plant-and-twist hard shot low across mouth, past Naeher's kick-slide, bounces into back left edge. Don't let Groom just go where she wants!

29' 0-2 Short backpass to S.Johnson turning cw toward own box top, to 22m mid-right as ball rolls alongside her on the inside. Groom overtakes her hard on the outside, shoulder-challenge sends S.Johnson sprawling forward -- no call. Groom dribbles unmarked to 9m mid-right, pulls Naeher up to 6-top 3-right -- nobody marks Bowen trailing through arc right. Groom continues to 6-top right, backpass to Bowen at 11m right post, one-touch right instep pass into center back low.

68' 1-2 Ertz chips toward arc top right for Huerta's run, Moros heads upfield to Gibbons facing away. Bad clang escapes her, Ertz overtakes from behind and pokes ball to Nagasato at 22m right post -- and Ertz continues her run past Sauerbrunn's turned back, through box top mid-right. Nagasato sees it, perfect soft pass through arc top to Ertz's foot at 15m. Ertz touches to 9m right post, chips right instep over Barnhart's sliding legs, into left edge 1/3 high. Hockey foghorn!
