Probably going to be the first ugly ugly week we've had in a while. If we average over 14k this week it I will be impressed.
All the games are at decent times, save Colorado. SJ-NE: 11,750 Dal-DC: 12,129 (Freddinho) KC-LA: 13,400 (battle for 1st place) NJ-Chi: 15,625 Col-Col: 10,871 ave: 12755
CLB @ COL - 11,000 CHI @ Metro - 12,000 DCU @ DAL - 16,000 LA @ KC - 14,000 NE @ SJ - 10,500 Average - 12,700
Just because it's a night game doesn't mean they're still not playing New England. They'll get 10K, but not eclipse it.
People who are predicting less than 10K for DCU at Dallas need to reevaluate your predictions. This isn't some normal game. It's Freddy. And last time he came to town it was raining all day and there were zero walk-ups, as evidenced by the Gen Admission side being more barren more than usual. This will be a lot of people's chance to see him if they missed him last time. Satuday it's only supposed to be partly cloudy with a high of about 90 degrees and it also starts in the evening at 7:30pmCST. Last game it was an afternoon affair.
And its known in advance that he's almost a lock to start because Santino Quaranta is coming off of an injury and Esky is unavailable for this game due to points accumulation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CLB @ COL - 13,000 CHI @ Metro - 13,500 DCU @ DAL - 12,800 LA @ KC - 11,300 NE @ SJ - 10,500 what kind of attendance would be satisfactory to YOu,to US and MLS , you think, ?
CLB @ COL - 10,000 (being optimistic with an afternoon start) CHI @ Metro - 14,000 (wishful thinking) DCU @ DAL - 10,500 (Adu can you still attract the most apathetic fans?) LA @ KC - 11,742 (wishful thinking) NE @ SJ - 10,641 (Should happen night game and all)
You're right I change my prediction to 12,000. I can't understand why the hype is still high for Adu, he hasn't played many minutes and certainly isn't tearing up the league with goals.
More Adu talk, even if it has nothing to do with this week "In my memory, I can't remember a sellout this early." -- Columbus Crew interim general manager Mark McCullers, who has been with the Crew since 1999, on ticket sales for its Aug. 21 game against D.C. United and Freddy Adu. Fewer than 2,000 tickets are still available. Andy
I think Metro/Fire will surprise people. Its a great rivarly that last year drew 20k for a sunday afternoon game. I wouldnt be surprised at all if this game hits 20k with it being on saturday night.
This doesn't pertain to this week, but Dallas is going to get into the doubleheader act: DALLAS BURN PRESS RELEASE CHIVAS TO FACE SANTOS IN DOUBLHEADER AT COTTON BOWL ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 7 Burn Match vs. Colorado Now Scheduled For 6:00 P.M. Kickoff With Chivas/Santos Match Set To Kick Off Immediately Afterwards DALLAS – Hunt Sports Group, in conjunction with Coors Light, announced today that Mexican First Division teams Club Deportivo Guadalajara, also known as Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara, and Club Santos Laguna will be part of a doubleheader on Saturday, August 7 at the Cotton Bowl. The match will mark the first time the Chivas Rayadas have visited Dallas since finishing as runner-up in the Mexican League and the first time these two teams will go head-to-head in Dallas. The Dallas Burn will square off against the Colorado Rapids at 6:00 p.m. with the two Mexican powers kicking off at approximately 8:00 p.m. The game is the third of four matches that make up the Coors Light 2004 Chivas Rayadas Summer Tournament. Chivas has established itself as the most recognized and popular team in Mexico. The club, established in 1906, has won a total of 10 local championships, including four in a row (1959-1962). Continuing a long-lasting tradition, Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara has conquered all of their national and international championships utilizing only Mexican-born players on their team. Santos Laguna has been a tremendous success story in Mexican soccer. Having ascended from the Second Division in 1988, Santos went on to win First Division championships in 1996 and 2001 while finishing second in 1994 and 2000. The team also made it to the quarter-finals in the 2004 Copa Libertadores. Chivas and Santos Laguna will arrive in Dallas on Thursday, August 5 and it is anticipated the two teams will train locally the day before the match. Practice times and locations will be released at a later date. With the Mexican League season set to kick off a week later, both squads are expected to bring their best available players. Chivas will bring their National Team players that played in Copa America 2004 in Peru such as Osvaldo Sanchez, Francisco Palencia, Ramoncito Morales, and Bofo Bautista. Chivas will also premiere Benjamín "The Teacher" Galindo, a new coach who was appointed as the new leader of the so-called Sacred Flock in late June. Tickets for the doubleheader, which go on sale on Thursday, July 22, range from $25-$35 if purchased prior to game day. Tickets purchased on game day range from $30-$40 for adults and $25-$35 for children ages 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the Burn ticket office located at 14800 Quorum Avenue, by calling the Burn office at 214-979-0303 or through Ticketmaster at 214-373-8000.
Clb At Col-13,500 Chi At Ny-18,000 Dc At Dal-9,500 La At Kc-20,000 Ne At Sj-10,000 Everyone is underestimating the LA-KC appeal. KC's attendance is on a sharp upswing, three crowds of 20,000 plus recently and only one tied to young Freddy. I see another 20k plus crowd in Arrowhead for the biggest game of the MLS season thus far. Average: 14,200 (I think, no calculator on hand)
And one tied to a promotional deal with a local supermarket chain. And one tied to the 4th of July and fireworks. I don't think there's any huge LA-KC appeal. KC has done tremendous work to get those crowds, but I think it's a bit much to ask them to repeat them at will.
Official capacity is 22,555, though whenever they reach that number, they just keep on selling tickets that are standing room only, like mentioned above. At the game Tuesday night, the program mentioned that less than 1500 tickets remain, which means they've sold 21K so far.
Different Numbers I've heard from Wizards fans on our boards: Around 11,500-12,500 lowend to 16,000-17,000 high end. I'm hopeful for the latter but am expecting the former. Weather looks good for Saturday though, and the Royals are on the road. Nothing else too big that I know of going on. Granted that could be because I've been in my BigSoccer cave all week expectantly waiting to scream at some Galaxatives on Saturday. Hopefully lots more like me.
