I think this is the week I get to come back so here goes: Wednesday night Action New England at Kansas City - 6,700 Saturday DCU at Chicago - 23,000 Dallas at Metros - 10,500 Kansas City at Los Angeles - 19,000 Sunday Colorado at New England - 9,000 Average 13,640
I guess this weekend we'll learn whether or not the Fire's attendance woes have been because everyone in Chicago was saving up for Adu-mania Revs vs. Wizards - 9K DC vs Chicago - 26K Dallas vs. Metros - 12K Wizards vs. Galaxy - 22K Colorado vs. Revs - 7.5K
Just want to point out that Sunday's match is Columbus at New England. Not that it'll actually affect the Revs attendance.
I believe the Galaxy match will be well attended, but not a sell-out. Just the vibe I'm getting. I'd say 22,500
1,300 more than I thought they would get. It looked like it was a great night for a game too. 73 and clear. Well, congrats to the Revs for getting their 2nd win of the year.
The game in KC was a good attendance and shows how KC's core audiance has grown. This is the type of game that in the late 90's may have drawn in the 4-6000 range. Andy
I didn't know 8,000 people could be so quiet. And special thanks to USSF and MLS for coordinating their schedule so craptabulously. Always a good idea to try and split your small and finite audience.
I'll agree with that. 8K used to be typical for a weekend KC game. Now they're getting it on a Wednesday night, despite competing with the US national team. Definitely a good number for KC.
Question: was the KC game as originally scheduled or was this part of the Real Madrid knock-on effect when the schedule got jumbled. Here in LA we had the Sao Paolo exhibition game last night so I recorded the USMNT game. Originally the Sao Paolo game was set for Saturday and there was no conflict, but because of the Real schedule jumble we ended up with KC on Saturday and Sao Paolo moved at the last minute from Saturday to Wednesday, creating a conflict where none had been planned.
No this game was on the original schedule with no game for KC this weekend. After the All-Star game change, the game at LA was moved to this weekend. I wasn't at the game last night, but one reason for the lack of noise may have been for the second game in a row, someone from the organization/security stuck their nose into the Cauldron for no good reason.
Yep, two fans got tossed out of the Cauldron on Wednesday. One for throwing confetti, the other for having the audacity to question the first guys decision to throw someone out. The same fan ASSistant also complained about the use of the word "Crap" by the fans! Read more on the Wizards forum. Atmosphere, who needs it when you have organ music! As for the attendance numbers (and keeping this on topic), I was pleasantly surprised by us pulling in more than 8,000 on a Wednesday night. A few years ago this would have been in a 4-5000 range. But if the security keeps this up they're gonna drive more fans away than attract.
http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/scoreboard/game.jsp?match=06062004_CLBNE 7,047 in New England to watch a penalty kick fest. It was 52 and rainy, so those who did go didn't exactly get to enjoy the weather. So, for this week: 7,047 in New England 25,810 in Chicago 11,519 in the Meadowlands 22,774 in Los Angeles 8,041 in Kansas City for the Wednesday game And an average of 15,038 for the week
