Sounds ripe for picking by MLS. Come to the Fire, Drogba! I think the Fire were looking at him a few months ago...

He should boost attendance around the league for sure.

Not entirely sure why they'd have to break the rules. All they'd need to do is get rid of Marquez to open up a DP spot. They could transfer him to Salzburg for all they care, but I'm sure there will be Primera Division teams interested.

They could also just buy a DP slot from Chivas USA or New England or Chicago or whoever.

Seeing as how they only are using 2 of their 3 DP slots I'm thinking they could add him without breaking the rules. But lets not let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy.

Couldn't Red Bull just use their third DP slot for him? I couldn't see Drogba going to the Fire, or any other team not NYRB or LAG.

Interesting how she kind of glosses over that whole thing...

How I wish Foudy and Lalas strangled the life out of each other during the World Cup.

I believe this quote is taken out of context. I think she was referring to the fact that at the time the WUSA was, in fact, was completely separate from MLS. Regardless, why does it have to be black and white? Relationships, circumstances and roles change. Need I remind that MLS once had shoot out goals and larger goal boxes to accommodate the American fans?

As to how having a "WMLS" would be a benefit to both the women's game and the MLS owners; the main problem for the women's clubs was always renting out the stadiums. Just as is the case with my beloved United and other clubs without their own stadiums. That extra cost and inability to have the revenue a stadium can bring in is the difference between solvency and bankruptcy. Having MLS ownership would leverage already existing stadiums and sponsorship partners. Cutting down on the overhead of both facility and human resources and at the same time generating a new tenant is a win-win. I honestly don't understand all of the hostility (in all of the posts I've read, not re: Jasonma) to a Women's MLS. England, France, Germany and many other leagues around the world have women's teams augmenting their existing facilities. It just makes sense.

Sorry, but, this part of your statement is incorrect. :)

I'm almost positive in the first year, the goal boxes were 1 foot taller/wider. I have no way of proving that, but firmly recall this being the case as I thought it was a horrible idea.

Maybe the GK's weren't big enough! ;) There were several gimmicks the first years, but a larger goal was not one of them. I do think some folks were upset about the use of temporary goals...

As for the reaction to Foudy, I'm sure others could explain it better, but these new comments are a change from the tune sung by many in the women's game back then. Hopefully, everyone can put aside any bygones and work to better the game for all.

No matter how positive you are about it, you're wrong.

MLS goals have always been the height and width specified in the Laws of the Game.

    Nice Olympic Torch Shot.

Ricky Gervais has really lost some weight.
