People can hate Lalas all they want but he sometimes makes a really damn good point: This is something I've noticed a lot over the past few years as the rise of the homegrowns has started. Despite the fact that these players are starting to become highly demanded overseas (see players like Pepi, Clark, Busio, etc.) fanbases, and quite a few front offices, would lose their min over some Argentine U-20 player or some other youth player from another country. FC Dallas has an academy that is churning out players that some of the top leagues in the world want and they have done nothing but try and bury that talent on the bench with imports. At some point fans and front offices are going to have to come to the realization that foreign does not equal better.
Do you just have an eidetic memory for soccer logos, and have extensive encounters with them, or what?
MLS Private Equity Deals Coming Later This Year, Commissioner Garber Says Yahoo News Teams can now sell ownership stakes to private equity firms(up to 20%). Not sure if they can buy stakes in multiple teams though.
I'm a soccer fan who has always had an enthusiasm for the world of sports branding. I love to read up on how the identity package for one team or another might have changed over the years - how it is that they eventually settled upon a given name, colors, logo and uniforms. As a result, the daily "Name the Badge" challenge definitely sits at the center of a Venn diagram of my interests. I wouldn't claim that I possess eidetic memory. Rather, it's just that if a fact falls into my areas of interest, I usually have pretty decent recall.
Well, people always say MLS needs to be more like Europe. RedBird investments has a stake in Toulouse and Fenway Sports Group. Real Madrid has a partnership with Providence Equity. And New City Capital owns Burnley, FC Thun, KV Oostende, AS Nancy, and Esbjerg. Of course, I'm sure that the same people who complain about MLS online and how it isn't as "pure" as Europe because of reasons will realize that.

Well that should keep valuations rising without the need for expansion fees for a few years. It does increase the possibility of an investment bubble but that's a long way off.
