Fortunately you don't have to like a player to appreciate their talent or the impact they had on the game.
My dad saw him play live when he was in Naples. Heckuva player, but as what my dad would say: "Outside he was an artist of the game, but on the inside, he's made of powder"
Indeed. Many great artists are. I mean look at a Van Gogh, incredible talent, a genuis at his craft, but as well a bit loopy, cut his ear off. Well, Maradona was likewise an incredible talent, a genuis at his craft as well, however he stuffed his body full of nose drain-o. I still have his last game with Argentina on VHS, when he scored against Greece at USA1994. They beat Greece 4-0 that day. That Albiceleste team had him and cast of others like Batistuta, Ruggeri, Redondo, Caniggia, Simeone and Co. Who knows how USA1994 turns out if Maradona doesn't get the boot from FIFA authorites that first week of the tournament. Most watching back then thought it was gonna be a rematch in the Grand Final between Argentina and defending champs Germany. Or imagine an Argentina vs. Brasil Grand Final at the Rose Bowl that terrific Summer!
One of my friends was a bass player for a one hit wonder during the grunge era and played bass on several of the big albums that came out in that era. We were talking after Chris Cornell's and Chester Bennington's suicides and he mentioned that a lot of lead singers for bands are just broken. In a lot of cases, the crazy fuels their creativity, but it can also fuel their destruction.
Agree 100%! For us that cherish their music or delight in their skill on the field, there is this tragic side to their lives in that they themselves had to have endured a turbulent upbringing and or reoccurring afflictions but they harness this from their life and give back to us fans joy from their suffering.
So youre saying that in the cocaine market yesterday people needed to be shorting instead of snorting.
Unbeknownst to everyone El Pibe's power was in his curls, once he straightened his hair it was all downhill
