I never said it was simple, what are you talking about? All I said was that Santos did not get results in the Euro, he only had one win. He ended up winning the Euros, sure, but you were talking about results and not titles. Not to mention the INCREDIBLE luck we had the whole tournament.
Uh isn't getting results winning the tournament? Would you have ratheres he won like France or Germany but lost the tournament?
Results does not necessarily mean regular time wins. It means consistently acquiring a positive outcome. That's exactly what happened in the Euro. Just as you said Portugal got only 1 won regular time win. That conveniently neglects that they also did not lose once. That's results.
So much for VAR clamping down on complaining to the refs. Mexico going nuts on the sideline about that no call.
What Santos is managing sounds a lot more appealing to me than getting mopped by Greece in both the opener and the final at home, with the probably best squad in modern Portuguese football history.
Ref is a joke D Marquez pulled two times he knew it's yellow.. no, BOTH TIMES. and others situations, at the end also.
Alba better hope officials don't figure out the technology, he's made a career out of running into invisible walls. Guys like that are the most nervous about this stuff.
Holy shit, alot of quotes! By results I meant the actual results of the games themselves, not what they achieve. Of course game results have an essential relation to winning titles, I never said otherwise but when Miami said Santos is getting results and I replied I meant the actual results of the games alone. Uh when did I ever say that? Sure I agree, but I was speaking merely on the results of the games themselves and I still stand by the fact that Portugal did not have a convincing Euro for only being able to win one single game out of seven (in regular time). I'm Portuguese, so of course i'm more than glad it turned out well. I have to plead ignorance on this one, I don't get it. I never said otherwise. Putting all my criticisms to Santos aside, and they're many, this Portugal side is the most well organized in my lifetime.
When the team is not competing in a round robin competition, winning the matches in 90 minutes is equal to winning them in overtime or penalty shoot out. Nothing wrong with the way Portugal won the cup. They did not win the matches but they didnt lose either. So ...
you keep on repeting that Portugal only one once then adding the (in normal time) as if winning in extra time wasnt considered a win.... I believe that in elimination tornaments its normal for a team to sometimes do just enough to pull through.... you could tie every game in CL and come out the winner... The whole argument of consistant well played wins equals results is stupid if at the end of the day you dont achieve your goals... which in portugals case is trying to win the trophy (i mean i know thats everyones ultimate reslut but for portugal its actually doable). Consistant well played football by a big team (real madrid, portugal) with no trohpies = failure Shit football and no resluts= failure Consistant well played football with trophies to back it up = success shit fooball accompanied by trohpies= less successfull yet successfull in reaching resluts goals, etc....
I never said there was. Of course what really matters is winning at the end of the day, but as a fan of my NT I would also like to see it play better football than the one shown in the Euros. That's all i'm saying.
National team football isn't about playing well, it's about winning. Spain dominated the sport, and pretty much everybody else hated it after a couple of years.
