Such a long thread...not sure if anyone's mentioned these: Chad Johnson Spike Lee Mark Cuban (I speculate, but he did attend IU and owns HDNET) Said in above thread Steve Nash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehvrkKwCTqA Let's get Nash and Johnson to the MLS after they retire from their day jobs! You know they've had to have dreamed of playing on the pitch with Beckham!!
Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes, Drew Carey, Samuel L Jackson, and Jennifer Lopez all have Galaxy season tickets. John Travolta will probably be at Galaxy games as well. As for Houston, our fans include Evander Holyfield, Mike Jones (who?) Mike Jones, Solange Knowles (Beyonce's sister), and La Mafia. And I guess we can include former President Bush too, who's into every H-Town team. And former President Clinton was at the last World Cup.
1/2 hour television show of celebrities and other athletes talking about their favourite soccer memories and moments.
Spike Lee on Zidane http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpk8cQXFEmo he is also good friends with Thuram and Henry.
I know huh? BTW, to DOMBAS, that dude U described is Houston Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon. He still supports the Nigerian soccer team to this day.
I'm surprised that I will be able to add to this long thread, but I can: - Madonna is a season ticket holder of Chelsea - Paris Hilton watches soccer (or at least soccer players ) - supposedly she watched the whole World Cup 2006. and since other people were listing British Celebs, here are some more of those: - Michael Palin is a Sheffield United supporter (in his Around the World program, he borrows a truck and puts "Sheffield United" across the front) - Dr Alex Patterson of The Orb music group (#1 album in the UK in 1992) is a big soccer fan - Anyone who watches FSC IDs knows that members of Duran Duran and Erasure are soccer fans. - Roger Daltrey is a big Arsenal fan, and sang at the closing of their old stadium, Highbury. - Arthur C. Clarke (author of 2001, and inventor of communication satellites) is a Tottenham Hotspurs fan (one of his books was entitled "Tales from the White Hart"), and in appreciation for his invention, EchoStar installed a big dish for him for free in his house in Sri Lanka, so he could watch Spurs matches.
Yes, he was hanging out in Berlin. But that still does not forgive Pres. Clinton for sending VP Al Gore to the Rose Bowl in 1994 to present the World Cup to the winning team, Brazil. Bush Dubya actually called the USMNT in Korea before the game with Mexico and what did we do, we won!
And not forgetting Anthony LaPaglia; he has Galaxy season tickets, too. The "Without A Trace" star, incidentally, as a Sydney native, is also on the board of the A-League's Sydney FC club. So his involvement in the sport isn't just a passing fancy. I think he was also a goalkeeper in his younger days, I remember reading somewhere.
Wouldn't surprise me -- but he also played at a pretty competitive level in his youth, growing up in Australia.
Here's a good (but fairly old) article on the EPL and prominent fans of each side. Check out some of Arsenal's supporters (that's my team too!)... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060719_2
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2021288867 U can add P Diddy to the list
John Stewart played for his college. I forget which one though. His real last name is not Stewart, however, if you look that up.
Chicago Fire: Lupe Fiasco - Hip Hop artist/rapper Ozzie Guillen - Chicago White Sox manager Carlos Zambrano - Chicago Cubs pitcher Houston Dynamo Evander Holyfield - Heavyweight Boxer Joan Higginbotham - NASA Astronaut Solange Knowles - R&B Singer/Songwriter/Actress La Mafia - Latin Band LeToya Luckett - R&B Singer Mike Jones - Rapper
I CANT BELIEVE NO ONE HAS POSTED BRAD PITT... APPARENTLY HIS KIDS ARE GOING TO BE TAUGHT BY BECKHAM.. http://www.ibnlive.com/news/brad-pitt-hires-beckham-to-coach-son/23089-8.html
john gotti?? wow..I think since most of the celebs probably know people who support those teams. I know a lot of black people who support ARSENAL... Mainly because they love theirry henry...dude just looks cool as hell on the pitch. LOL Yea I think liverpool could be pretty much summed up as boston. Although they are probably not as rude.
