Man, nice assist. He's figured out that you don't need to beat a guy over 10 or 15 yards, but over 2. Couple that with one of the quickest first steps in the game, and he's a problem (in a good way of course). Timo I love ya

Beauty of a ball. Looking forward to Balogun or Pepi smashing that into the back of the net next summer

Got to say, tho, that finish was first class. Not easy to top-shelf that ball over the keeper extended like that with a back on your back. Nice move(s) from Weah to get the step and open the lane, ball served exactly the right spot and strong finish. Good stuff.

He was very good pretty much all night in a team that had the measure of the Toon. This was a make-or-break game for OM as a defeat would have left them 2nd-from-bottom but they're out of the elimination spots until tonight at least.

He's doing really well at a strong club and is playing more and more often at RB, ousting his rivals. This has been a very good move for him.

Did he actually play right back or are they doing the usual shoe horning offensive players into spots they really didn't play (didn't watch but guessing right wing back?).

Both Marseille and Monaco have Friday games. No Balo for Monaco today. Hopefully Weah gets some game.

Win puts OM (temporarily at least) top o table, jumping a point above Lens. Tie gets them tied (temporarily) on points with 2nd place PSG (but ahead on GD).

Sadly, Weah and OM come up a Lille short against his old team. He goes 90 in a 1-0 loss and OM pass up the chance to spend a few hours top o table again.

What a wasted 90 minutes of my life. OM overall were terrible, and Weah was invisible the entire game....

    Marseille won 3-2 btw.

So many YA games tomorrow, but Mareille (3rd - 29 pts) take on Monaco (8, 23). Last Ligue 1 games before the break. (there's a cup match as well.)

An Weah wins the battle of the South Coast as Maresielle pip Monaco 1-0. Both Balo and Timo went 90. I did not see this one.

OM stay in 3rd on GD, Monaco drop a spot, being leap-frogged by McKenzie's Toulouse.

Ligue 1 is a fun little cadre of Americans getting good minutes (Tessman the current exception. Hope he's back soon.) Reminds me of the Ered a few years ago.

BTW, Weah got a 6 (3rd highest on team after goal scorer Greenwood and assist provider P-EH.

Balo got a 5, like most of Monaco. Only Keeper Hradecky garndered any particular praise. Golovin also was good, apparently and Balo had a shot cleared off the line.

In the 80th minute Balogun also had a goal ruled out for a marginal offside after a great dinked finish when through on goal. In the 82nd minute Greenwood scored. Also Weah had several lovely square balls for set ups in this game that teammates, including Greenwood, spurned.

Weah started and played 69 minutes in a 6-0 Cup wipeout of FBBP 01, who are apparently a team.

Amateur club which was briefly professional, changing their name from FC Bourg-Péronnas to the snappy Football Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas 01 to celebrate.

Irrespective of the cup win, Weah is quietly playing some very consistently decent ball when I have watched. He's mostly a wide right winger/back in a 3-4-2-1 it looks like to me - but gets forward quite a bit. Hasn't been like "holy cow" good, but has been consistently involved and getting good minutes on a top team atm.

Thought I'd check my impression on Weah and just looking at Fotmob - a limited set of data, I freely admit, but I'm pretty lazy - and Timo gets a low of 6.2 v Sporting back in Oct and a high of 8.2 v Newcastle. Meanwhile his last handful of games earned: 7.2 for the cup, 7.4 for Monaco - a game I saw the 30 mins of and he was at least that for the time I watched - 7.0 v. Union St. G, 6.6 Lille - also a game I saw a bit of, 6.5 v Toulouse, 8.2 NUFc, 8.1 Nice. (All 90 min apps save 45 v. St. G and like 70 in the cup.)

As was my impression, not blowing folks minds, but putting a very decent shift with good regularity.

Which is Job No.1 for a (primarily) defensive player.

Expect him to start in June
