okay, so I am sure I am biased here. I am sure that I will get responses that say I am, so I already know, okay?

    Right....

So many other professional sports have video replay, yet UEFA refuse to have it.

I know it makes the games longer, and I know that it can be quite spurious, but does anyone agree that if we had this less arguments, less fighting, less violence would happen?

Sol Cambell scored a good goal last night, which could have been the end of the game for Portugal, we don't know how they would have reacted of course, they may have scored again too.

Portugal were the better team last night. England were not on the form they were on against Croatia, they didn't play well, but, frankly, they scored more goals than Portugal. this could have been shown with a video replay....

Remember the linesman thought it was a goal. I wasn't there, but from what I saw he had a better view of the goal than the Referee.....

There are PLENTY of members on here, why not get a petition together and hand it in to UEAFA and get this sorted out NOW!!!!

    ...............................................................................

Biased about what?? You make some good points!!
But you;re a little late!! I and other people been writing to UEFa and FIFA for years to use the tecgnology and make the RIGHT team win!! They can watch it instanlty on the large screen, and the 4th refferee can change the decission of the main reff. if he or they all reach the same conclussion ! But UEFA don;t want that!! If they did ,Romania would've been at the EURO ,not Denmark!!
The same REf. from today, URS MAIER robbed Romania of victory in the ...96 min!!!!! But he only had 4 min . of overtime!!

Unfortunatelly,as much as I hate him and he is a bad ref.
in the Campbell gol he had no choice ,because not Campbell ,but Terry had his arm around golie's neck, and he coudn't make it to the ball! he wouldn't've made it anyway, but the reff.didn;t know that!! The Fifa rules specify that no player should obstruct the goalie in the process of catching or boxing the ball!! terry did that, inadvertantelly, i believe ,but he did!! Even the slow motion showed that!! You should watch it again!!

I liked both teams, i love english soccer, I hate that ref. but it was obstruction on the goalie by ..terry.not campbell!!

Well, now what have i got myself into?? lol

    PEACE

Andy, you seem to be a reasonable guy and beleive us when we tell you that we understand your frustration, consider what happened to us against France last time.

I agree with Lepe, you make some valid points. but at the sametime it throws the whole concept of tradition out the window. How many times is FIFA/Uefa going to change the overtime formats, goalkeeping rules, etc. If there isn't some sort of standardization of rules then the whole concept of Football history and heritage means nothing. If we keep messing with the rules and how they are determined/judged then sooner or later modern football and the football we all grew up loving will have no longer any resemblance.

For myself personally, I have no issue with referee human errors or diving, but where I do beleive the health and beauty of the game is being hindered is in the pitch sizes. We immediately need to establish a standard pitch size with no exception. The minimum legal pitch size may have been ok for those unhealthy, scrawny looking dudes back in the day but today the athleticism and physical conditionaing of the athletes makes for small pitches to become claustrophobic. Pitches like Arsenal's highbury, Bayern Munichs home or any pitch built within the confines of an athletics track is totally unacceptable to me personally.

Players cramped like sardines and getting tackled left and right as a result is more pressing of a matter to the health of the sport than video replay.

I respect your concern Andy, but beautiful soccer/football is so rare today that that must be priority #1.

    PEACE

Yesterday I was watching the game on BBC... and they are the most biased people ever. First off Terry did have his arm over Ricardo he tried to jump twice but wasn't able...

Another thing I find very amusing is when Portugal headed the ball to the net and then Cole was inside the net and kicked it out. Why didn't they show the replay 100000X??? It could have been in if seen from another angle.I even put it at very slow on my VCR and it was very close...

I have been in favor of video replay to see if the ball crosses the goal line or not (especially after the United States vs Germany game at World Cup 2002), not so much for foul or non-foul calls. Human error is part of the game though, and I accept it. The referee was correct on disallowing Campbell's goal because Terry had his arm on Ricardo's shoulder, which prevented Ricardo of making a play for the ball (Ricardo looked lost on that play, and I think he wouldn't have gotten to the ball either way, but he was interfered with). Also, in Euro 2000, I think the referee made the right call on Abel Xavier. Even though it didn't look intentional, Abel Xavier's hand did not allow that ball to go either in the goal, or off the post, or across the goal line. The thing about that play that bugs me is that if it had happened the other way around (meaning if a France defender stopped it with his hand), the referee would not have called a penalty against France.
