Never seen a PV team quit, but they quit on him big time tonight vs LAFC.

I thought the last 20 minutes was more than that.

I left after the third goal, so happy to hear your perspective. The Dallas game will likely be a snooze fest. Sad to see Johnny go out like that at home if it is his last season.

but Melia does add to his saved PK list!
I'm not so sure we quit. I just don't think we're very good. Russell simply doesn't have it any more. I bought that's a lack of want.
Bassong made two really bad errors that ended in goals, but not a lack of want, just isn't that good in those moments.
I thought new guy was good. Good 1v1 and nice on the ball.
Walter not only knows he's surplus to requrements, he's already left.
Salloi? WTF. Okay, maybe he quit.
But I mean, if, before the match started, SteveC was offered any players off the SKC roster but only as starters for LAFC (and who would magically fully integrated): Would he have taken anyone?
And just to add, in a salary cap league, that's pathetic.

My quit comment is about the last 20 minutes, when LAFC was repeatedly generating tap in chances in front of goal. It was as if the defense stopped trying and a complete miracle that the scoreline didn't end 5 or 6 to zero. Go watch the last 20.

Sadly, not the first time the team has quit on Pete. I recall worse games in the past (at the Galaxy, maybe hosting Dallas?) that ran up even worse results.

At this point, with nothing else on the line, players are playing for their future with the club. And it's clear even with that pressure, some guys can't be bothered.

To me the quitting started showing up with the PK. That goal was scored because the LAFC player wanted it more and was ready to move as soon as the ball was struck. SKC defenders, not so much.
I was not impressed with Pulido's work as a number 10, but he did spend a fair amount of time along the LAFC backline and I did see him wave his hand for the ball.
I agree that Fernandez was good.
I did not understand or like that Salloi came on for Afrifa. The Agada sub should have been earlier.
I am so ready for the PV era at SKC to end.
I got to say Hi to Afrifa when he came over for selfies and autographs.

    Wolff’s MLS record with Austin - 45 W, 30 D, 60 L
    Vermes’ MLS record over the same time - 48 W, 32 D, 55 L

It is so apparent why one got fired and the other is on a long term contract trusted to rebuild the Club. Those 2.75 points a year average increase are priceless.

"Because what happened this year was not enough." PV after game press remarks

    Says the one that,

"oversees all soccer operations for Sporting Kansas City, including head coaching duties, roster management, scouting and oversight of Sporting Kansas City II and Sporting KC Academy" PV job des. on SKC website

No playoffs for 2 of the last 3 seasons. I am working on my script for my tic rep., maybe I'll swing by the corp. office. I like having a voice, however dim, with my season tickets. It's also my vote to keep the team here. PV needs to be forced to pick one job and then SKC hire replacements for the others. Otherwise the next three seasons are gonna be, I may finally bring a sign*, interesting.

*Which of course will include my wife's wise input.

you do you, but if you're still giving them money, they don't give a damn about what you say after that. all they care about is, "this dude's buying what we're selling." your MONEY is the only opinion they care about, and more importantly, the only thing that'll make any difference.

Is it "MONEY" that "they", by whom I take you to mean the owners of SKC, only care about? Because if that were true then I think that the performance on the field would be of prime importance. Because in the business of sports it is the teams that win most often that make most of the money.
It still boggles my mind that the owners were either too scared or too lazy to even begin the process of separation from PV after 2022.

one would think that, right? i would too. but if you can retain, say, 80% of sales and decrease your own spend by more than that, wouldn't that be a better "business" decision? i have zero confidence our current owners give a damn about winning; they've given me no evidence by their actions in the last ... at least 5 years, and more like 7-8. i do have evidence of their actions that they're very interested in increasing profits and decreasing elements that help fan experience and/or value. they just need a large enough base of customers who'll keep plunking down their money for the grossly diminishing returns.

your last line there tells me that you know this already, but you may not have connected the dots. they weren't lazy or scared. they were comfortable. they can keep status quo and enough people will keep paying for it. i mean, they didn't just not move on, they doubled down and re-committed themselves, and all of us, for another half decade of this managerial show of incompetence. they'll get rid of vermes only when their bottom line is hurt more by his still being here than it is by eating the rest of his salary and absorbing a new one for his replacement.

It took all of 2024, but PV finally identified the winner of the annual Ben Sweat Its not Peter' fault, its yours award. This year, blame was equally distributed by Peter to (drumroll.....)

    Mentality
    Hunger

Congratulations on splitting the 2nd annual Ben Sweat award to these winners.

I can't wait to see who PV blames in 2025!!

Not sure I see how a half full stadium retains 80% of sales and decreases what they spend by more than that. It costs the same to fire up and run that stadium for 9,000 as it would for 18,000 fans. I would say a more reasonable estimate of the hit to concession and merch sales would be closer to 60%.

    In other news,
"I also think the fact that we have another person that's the Sporting Director and I'm not – I like that they can focus on those aspects of the club and I can focus on the other. I think that helps immensely." PV answering question about On having a chance to put frustrations behind him and reset…
It will be nice if this turns out to be true. I have my doubts.

In fairness, his annihilation of St Louis last year might have been SKC's best two-legged matchup in his tenure as manager.

Side note, I'm horrified that they ********ed with the playoff format again, and this time in an even worse way.
