He sat to my left for 24 years, and stood behind me for 51. He was my dad, and I'm going to miss him. His name was George Souza (AKA @12th Man). He was an avid consumer of BigSoccer, but an infrequent poster. We dressed him up in his OG black '96 jersey for when they came to pick him up this afternoon, and the rest of our squad is probably still going to the opener on Saturday. Because that's what he'd want. So if you're going to be there, drink one for him. If you're not going to be there, also drink one for him. If you don't drink, let me know, and I'll drink an extra in your place. I've already gotten a head start. Vamos DC.
Gutted for you, AR. Thanks for sharing the news. Better days behind and ahead, but the DCU family is poorer today for his loss. Salty beer is the worst beer.
Thanks for posting, @Abner Ravenwood. Sincere condolences from the Winoman family to your family. We will offer a toast to George at the 12th minute mark. RIP George.
Well crap. I'm sorry you lost him, but I'm glad that you had him. Thanks for posting this. I'll drink one for him; but that doesn't mean you shouldn't drink an extra in my place.
I'm really, really sorry for you and your family. Losing a beloved parent is a massive life moment. Even though we know it's the way of things that doesn't make it any easier. Hang in there. Grief is a process.
So sorry. My wife just buried her Mom last week. She was 91 but it never makes it easier. RIP Mr. Souza and I'll hoist a few in your honor on Saturday. Vamos United.
Ah man, so very sorry for your loss. That's gotta be tough. We will pour one out for your dad during the game and toast his fandom and his life (and hoist another one for his son!). @griffin1108 Please give Mrs1108 a big hug from Lisa and I.
Sorry for your loss AR. We will be thinking of you and your dad at the game. We'll drink one for him.
I'll be at home with the kids and grand kids, but I won't open my bottle until the twelfth minute in memory and honor of your dad, good sir. I won't post it here, but when you're ready for another really good cathartic cry, I recommend Steve Goodman's "My Old Man".
My belated condolences. I'm stuck @ work today; I will send a silent salute at the 12th minute. If any of you can hoist a drink on my behalf, please do so.
