I salute you with the portuguese anthem, translation in english by my friend Paulo Oliveira these is for you my brother Humberto Timoteo rest in Peace Heroes of the sea, noble race, Valiant and immortal nation, Now is the hour to raise up on high once more Portugal's splendour. From out of the mists of memory, Oh Homeland, we hear the voices Of your great forefathers That shall lead you on to victory! To arms, to arms On land and sea! To arms, to arms To fight for our Homeland! To march against the enemy guns! Unfurl the unconquerable flag In the bright light of your sky! Cry out all Europe and the whole world That Portugal has not perished. Your happy land is kissed By the Ocean that murmurs with love. And your conquering arm Has given new worlds to the world! To arms, to arms On land and sea! To arms, to arms To fight for our Homeland! To march against the enemy guns! Salute the Sun that rises On a smiling future: Let the echo of an insult be The signal for our revival. The rays of that powerful dawn Are like a mother's kisses That protect us and support us Against the insults of fate. To arms, to arms On land and sea! To arms, to arms To fight for our Homeland! To march against the enemy guns!
That is to bad any one dying over there is bad, but the death toll for the whole operation is still relatively very very low. Now that the UN is in officially I suspect the death toll will only get lower. Especially, when the iraq people grow the balls to arrest the foreign terrorist who are killing there on people mostly.
over 800 its been reported, but how many lost a arm, a leg, etc? a lot my friend in God we trust one death its one to many

thanks I just got the story from the first page of the New Jersey Star Ledger his wife was serving in South Korea, and had a three year old son I just don't believe the National Guard should be in Combat zones, that's my opinion here goes the story http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-15/108667756840960.xml my daughter in law graduated with him, out of East Side HS
Frank, my sympathies to the families of the Portuguese Americans. While I don't agree with hardly anything you say, I do want to wish Portugal luck in the upcoming Euro Cup 2004. Even though Italy will eventually kick Portugal's SS in the semifinals.
the wake will be most of the day Friday, at Our lady of Fatima on Jefferson st. the funeral schedule for Saturday at the North Arlinghton Cemetery http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-15/108676564055550.xml
from the sister She said the family would frequently argue politics and her brother was by far the most conservative, a strong supporter of the American mission in Iraq. "He was very opinionated, but he never questioned his job and his responsibility," she said. "He always said he'd fight for our freedom." Their parents, on the other hand, do not support the U.S. military venture in Iraq. "My parents are against this war and they're angry," she said. "They keep saying (President) Bush should have his daughters there and see how he likes it." She said her brother more than likely did not envision serving in a combat zone when he joined the National Guard. "I don't think that ever crossed his mind, but if it did, he was more than willing to go," she said.
Everytime I hear that noise I want to barf. There are no American soldiers in Iraq fighting for our freedom. I am a U.S. vet and I NEVER fought for our freedom. It has been a LONG time since any U.S. serviceman fought for our freedom. There is only ONE government on this whole big planet of ours that is a threat to our freedom and it is not necessary to travel around the world to find it. Nick

from John Kerry, June 6 The American spirit wears no political label. In service to others and yes, in sacrifice for our country, there are no Republicans; there are no Democrats; there are only Americans." -John Kerry, June 6, 2004
I couldn't agree more, this crap makes me sick, too...the terrorists don't hate our freedom, they hate our politics. If they hated our freedom, there's a lot of countries over in Europe that would have been obliterated by now.
