changing the subject...ManU has exactly half the points Liverpool has. HALF.

If you had told someone that in mid-February that would be the case, you would have been laughed out of town.

    I LOVE it.

I've always felt that the problem is not the technology but rather the competence (or lack of it) of the officials. Anthony Taylor was below acceptable last night and those manning the review system were even worse.

Yep, three critical incidents went United's way. The non call when Willian is fouled on the edge of the box.
He was clearly impeded imho yet ends up with a yellow. Maguire should have seen red for his kick out .
Then on the disallowed Chelsea goal a Chelsea player is initially pushed into the Utd defender .
All three incidents checked by VAR and decided in Utds favour and all three decisions were wrong for me.

Calling it technology with a human and all his failings sitting watching a tv screen is a bit of a misnomer.

Do refs still suffer the SARN effect???

Anyone see the ridiculous situation with Barcelona and Ousmane Dembélé?

Dembélé did his hamstring in December, maybe early January. Season-ending, no two ways about it. OK. So Barca went into the January transfer window, knowing Dembélé was done for the season. Not only did they not pursue an attacker to replace Dembélé, they actually allowed a fringe attacker Carles Pérez to leave on loan. They do have attackers in the youth system, but have deemed none of them to be of sufficient quality to make the jump.

So the Barca players took the pitch over the weekend, all wearing Dembélé's name and number during warm-ups. And then they applied to La Liga to be allowed to make an emergency signing for Dembélé. Which was granted! So, for the next 14 days they can sign anyone from a La Liga side or a free agent. Needless to say if they poach a forward from a lesser side, that side will not be allowed to replace the Barca signing.

So imagine if you're a decent but no exceptional forward and Barca come knocking. Your agent is going to be all over this for his 15% and you're going to have stars in your eyes (...it's Barcelona!..). And you'll probably be dumped come the summer window.

I know Barcelona are mes que une clube and all that shite, but how in the name of fu*ck do la Liga grant this request with a straight face? And would they have done the same for Leganes or somesuch?

Can't stand them and their bullshit. Look forward to them getting knocked out of the CL again.

One of the reasons that Barcelona is on the same level of dislike for Real Madrid for me. At the beginning of their run with Messi (and a bit before) they were the likeable ones....now they are just a bunch of entitled brats who don't think the rules don't apply to them - from the never ending tapping up of other players out in the open, to the bullying of referees, to something like this.

    They are awful.

Sid Lowe in The Guardian thinks Barcelona have had special treatment.

It does look like Leganes, who I had mentioned above, will be the ones to suffer. I only picked them as an example because they were close to the bottom and an unheralded team.

I knew there was this provision but I didn't know it was this badly lopsided with the preyed-on club at the mercy of ravenous scavengers.

Spurs under a lot of pressure in the first half. Lott’s a luck and hard work to keep about 15 shots out. Theyve had a couple of attempts but Ali hasn’t been up for them.

Leipzig have the Citeh tactic of every time you lose the ball upfield, you trip the man with the ball to give the team time to get back.

Gulacsi turned into a decent keeper. We would have been better of with him rather than mignolet and Karius.

Interesting Game, with spurs hanging in with one goal down. The two comms were good. They went into spasms of Joy when Wener scored that sublimely placed confident penalty. He only gets several bazillion euros for scoring goals doesn’t he. It’s hard though when the keeper is anchored to the spot until the ball hit the net. They just went into raptures every time Leipzig attacked. I didn’t detect a trace of a german accent either.

Spurs are in for a “difficult” time for the second leg.

Listen - the champions of Europe, the club World Cup champions, the super cup champions, and the epl champions elect - I hope they can raise their game in the second leg. At Anfield.

PSG is lucky to be only a goal down. Dortmund were far superior in every way and should have scored at two other goals.

Wait. That can’t be right. If just read an article by a paid member of the pundit press that PSG will win it all this year.
