it was a joke on my part. The mods said this thread could only have posts pertaining to his career. If he basically has no career then what could you possibly post that is apropos?

Oh my...how would we know that there is nothing to know if the thread is closed?

All joking aside, nobody answered the question about what his training situation is like right now...is he training with other reserves...alone with a trainer...with the local pub team...anybody know?

Maybe one of the Aris fans will pop up -- I honestly can't recall. I feel that he was only isolated before the transfer deadline.

The way I understand it snarky one liners are acceptable provided they haven't been done to death. I think realest egg sandwich and my boy Essien jokes are out. Gyro puns are probably out too, but I'm not sure. Can someone provide the complete list of overused jokes we need to avoid?

I would think he is still training on his own. He's not in Cuper's plans and this serves as a gentle reminder from Aris to Freddy that if he wants to play, he should find a new club for the January transfer window.

    As above . . .
    1. My boy Essien, out
    2. Realest egg sandwich
    3. Gyro or any reference to Thunderdome movie

    also:

    4. Age related jokes (I am even taking a small chance with this:) )
    5. Size related comments.
    6. Lack of speed or tactical concern jokes.
    7. Size of his feet remarks.
    8. Comments regarding posting of 2 year old U-tube highlights.
    9. Thoughts about the irrelevance of the Greek playoffs.
    10. Discussing the legitimacy of his MLS All-Star status.
    11. Anything related to a purported affinity for strip clubs.
    12. Any joke by our bud, E-66 will probably be a bad one, at this point.

There might be a couple of potentially humorous thoughts still around:
    1. Where is he training these days?
    2. Future employment opportunities.

In many ways, of course, this is no joking matter. There has been a long fall from grace. Anyway, I am sure we all wish Freddy the best and hopefully he will emerge the better man as a result of this baptism by fire.

Man deut, combined w/ no news you've left pretty much nothing to talk about.

As long as people post years old youtube highlights they're fair game I say.

I think most wish him the best, but the situation and threads are comical. Hopefully he will get his career on track - I guess we'll know when the big announcements come in the next few months.

A call-up to what? Remember, you can't answer with any reference to egg sandwiches (real or imaginary) nor Michael Essien, so think carefully before you respond. More difficult than you thought, right?

I've just read Robert Enke's biography, written by a long-time friend and soccer writer. I don't have any fun with degraded soccer players anymore.

But once you get passed Enke and Deisler, most players don't suffer mentally from the fan abuse (I guess with the exception of the racial epithets, in case of guys like Eto'o).

If you recall the recent Germany-Turkey match, Özil was whistled on every touch of the ball by his ex-Turkish/German supporters but he totally shrugged it off.

Beckham was booed in an MLS match and he said, ~ "This is how you know you're back on the pitch and people are aware of who you are".

I wouldn't compare anyone's struggles with depression to the life of a person being paid to not do their job.

I mean you're right, maybe right now Freddy's having a massive internal struggle with inner demons speaking to him about the ultimate worthlessness and inadequacy of his existence.

I'd never be so foolish as to think that may not be occurring, even as he tweets to the world.

On the other hand we have no evidence that it is occurring.

On the other other hand, you've presented a second cogent argument for closing this thread to go along with chalaron's.

Freddy Adu has no career right now,and we're just being mean little trolls, all of us,when we come in here to spit on that careeer's grave.

I propose a lock on this thread and no reopening until there is a)an actual appearance by Freddy onthe pitch in an Aris uniform or b) an actual request by another club for his services.

I mentioned before he should go back to MLS mainly DC United. He would be a big draw for the team, and could start rebuilding the team with Adu addition. DC United can try to build a team around Adu like U20 did that would flourish Adu's skills. To me it makes the most sense and would be a great way for Adu to regain his old form still being part a good league. He is still young and can try Europe maybe 5 years later similar travel as LD is currently doing. Come on Adu MLS is awaiting.

Of course you may have to use a DP slot on him.

    They already got Andy Najar.

Adu will probably sit on the bench watching Andy

They play different positions. If he were to come back to DCU (not saying he will), Najar would not keep him on the bench.

With the exception of Najar, DC is so bad right now, I can't see any current player keeping him on the bench.

i think the two could compliment each other Najar has much more pace than our boy Adu. I think he would well help Adu with his pace and they would both need a big striker that can hold the ball down and knock down headers.

as I posted earlier, he'd certainly be an upgrade. But he would not be any kind of draw.

FYI Aris lost 1-0 to Olympiakos. That's what they get for not playing Adu.

Aris is now 8th of 16 teams.

With 3 goals in 7 games, they are tied for last in goals scored.

But Adu can't even make the 18?

You're assuming that's a reflection on Aris when it could be a reflection an Adu.

DC could use Adu, as they are just a shell of a team. Imagine Adu and Najar on the wings?? that could be deadly. Adu could also play in the center. Guess it just depends
