Well this game is pretty much done. Serbia winning 1-0 in their game so everything stays the same. We gotta beat Ireland - if we do, we just need a tie at home vs Serbia to qualify directly. Edit: Azerbaijan just tied. Maybe not over yet..
I think Mendes was bad in the last game and is this game, he hás lost possession quite a few times. Best players, Bernardo, Ronaldo, A.Silva and Fernandes.
This result was pretty much expected. Anything less than 3 goals and this would have been considered as an abysmal performance. I miss Mendes btw
Many of our top players are healthy and in-form so that makes things easier for Santos. Even so, it’s amazing how Joao Mario suddenly is called now and not at the euros. I really like what Leao brings to this squad. He should be a regular call up. Guedes also looked good when he came in. Bernardo Silva was great. Bruno fernandes was good. Matheus Nunes and the return of Joao Mario bolsters our midfield options. Anyways, if we win the final two qualifiers this would arguably be Portugal’s most comfortable qualification for a major tournament that I can remember. All wins and one draw which we were robbed (against Serbia , Ronaldo scored the winner but there was no VAR). Hopefully we beat Ireland and thrash Serbia.
