Actually i have more hope in this match that we SHOULD WIN than brasil.. How i would line up? The duo cantillo diaz was espectacular three years ago. ---------------Ospina------------ Cuadrado--Davinson--Lucumi---Yairo--- --------------Barrios----Cantillo------ ------James-----------------------Diaz---- ---------------Muriel----Borja-----------
This is the match I think Cuads plays RB: ----------------Ospina---------------- Cuadrado--Davinson--Lucumi----Yairo ------------Barrios----------Cantillo------ -----Valoyes-------------------James------- ---------Santos Borre-----Borja---------
Good news, 4 of the last 5 games we should be favorites in, bad news there will be a lot of pressure and we haven't scored a goal or created many chances in 4 games now and we haven't looked like doing that bar 1 game under Rueda really. We are pushing it to the wire with a lot of teams close to us, but if we can play well we have the easiest schedule left of the bunch.
We just need the same intensity in MF defensive/offense and wing play we had 1st Half vs Brazil. I just didn't even see a spark with James. We risk playing with 10 players....actually 9 because Tesillo is that much of a useless player to me. Who's out for this 2nd match: Barrios, Cuadrado and Mojica??
Assuming we're going to stick to the damn 4-4-2 this is what I'd do if we stay on that formation: --------Muriel--Duvan Diaz-Cantillo-Lerma-James Yairo-Jhon-Davinson-Cuadrado Please no Tesillo
Another probable formation: ----------------Ospina---------------- Munoz--Davinson--Tesillo----Yairo ------------Barrios-------Cuellar------ -----Cuadrado-------------------James------- --------------Borja---------Diaz-----
Ok. Then I'd much prefer we play with Cuellar and Cantillo. Lerma really struggled transitioning the team into attack last game, never seemed comfortable on the ball and we've got to get into attack with more depth because Paraguay is going to park the bus and try to play with our anxiety.
The lineup is not mine but one I saw online. I think Rueda really trusts Lerma and Cuellar. Lerma looked good at home against Venezuela (under Queiroz) and is not afraid to put shots on goal. Cantillo has never started and was just brought into the fold this month so I doubt he would play but would love to see it happen.
Yes, Lerma played well for Quieroz in that first call up. I just haven't seen that guy for a while...
It has been a while but he has played against tough opponents like Argentina, @ Brazil, @ Uruguay. Nobody is going to play as good against those guys.
Lerma problem for me is his style....he isnt a good touch guy and beither elaboration......all his play is based in muscle and intensity.....he pushed but he doesnt give posession and neither is a barrios taking the ball. His game is not practical I imagine him as key man in a team coached by pinto
I could argue that we immediately looked better when he came off the field against Argentina, but it's less to me about his level of play and more the role he plays. We need more vertigo and depth from that first line of midfield.
I'm not a big Lerma fan and generally would rather play Cuellar but Cuellar had a bad game and Lerma was arguably pretty good so in Rueda land you know what that means imo. I would probably go with Cuellar/Cantillo double pivot in general but think its really likely we se Lerma/Cuellar or Lerma/Cantillo. The Brazil game was a good set up for Lerma, not a lot of possession expected and could just go and destroy with Barrios holding behind him, against Paraguay I don't think he'll have that same role so would be happy to have someone better on the ball and with a better passing range like Cuellar.
I do think that we will step up...we have to step up. Look at what is happening in UEFA: upsets are occurring and especially with what happened to Portgual in their own home losing at the 90th minute, these players of ours HAVE to take that as a warning not to underestimate Paraguay. They have the talent we need them to click and secure us a win.
