Uruguay wins and qualifies for the world cup. Peru has to win in order to qualify; if they don't win and we win against Venezuela we can take the 5th place spot. Paraguay really ********ed up Edcaudor surprisingly which could be ideal if we don't want Peru to win when they host Paraguay. But Paraguay got a red card and lost a defender.
This was a better lineup then usual, Sinisterra and Diaz both were dangerous and gave the most threat of the team. Cuadrado was horrible, he should not be playing CM, decision making on the ball centrally is really bad, can't make the simple pass enough and always going for hero ball. Not James best game but all the time Cuadrado was on the ball I'd much rather have James dictating play and pulling the strings, Rueda's obsession with Cuadrado is puzzling. Glad we got some goals, Muriel didn't do a ton but didn't get a ton of the ball either. Crazy it takes Rueda this long to play a 4-3-3 and to play Sinisterra and get Diaz more freedom closer to goal. Fabra a lot better then Mojica, has way more of a brain and isn't just a one dimensional get to the line and cross player.
Peru will be in a tough position; imagine they're not winning at home and they play more desperately which could cost them a win. But on our end, our players still have mental issues despite the 3-0 win against Bolivia; Venezuela will likely lose to Argentina tomorrow and they'll have nothing to play for against us aside from pride. The deciding factor is mentality for us and Peru...I seriously hope that we can somehow win and Peru can somehow not win.
think he was fine they tried to play him as a 9 And if they take out Cuadrado and put a CF in we have a chance. whole first half it was so clear we didn’t have a 9. Muriel and Sinisteria playing as wingers and Diaz as a 10 or 11 players Did Ospina touch the ball?
Thank goodness - some balls finally went in the net. Real shame we didn't have the Buffalo, but glad we got a goal from our star ⭐ and a couple of subs. Ospina - N/A - Nothing to grade him on! Fabra - 7 - Finally! Some attack from the left fullback! Cuesta - 6 - Kept it chill. Tesillo - 5 - Not challenged, plays so nervous with ball at his foot he makes the whole team nervous unnecessarily. Munoz - 5 - Got fwd well but blew two clear goal chances. One from a brilliant James dead ball. Cuellar - 6 - Didn't have to do much, but give him credit, Bolivia never had the ball in H1. C4 - 3 - Awful. So much wasted possession kicking the ball out of bounds. Makes things more difficult than they need to be. James - 4 - You can see the mind is there and there were a few brilliant touches, but there were a couple of field goals too. Sini - 6 - Played solid for me and you can see the natural ability is there, just needs summer more minutes to get comfortable and start taking on his marker more. If Fabra looks up a second earlier would have had an easy tap in goal. Keep playing him. Muriel - 5 - Passenger. Finally got to play in his preferred role but couldn't impact (which is tough because the opponent was parked and there were few counter attacks) Diaz - 9 - Goal and assist. We need another game like this on Tuesday. YAIRO - 7 - Looked great. So athletic. Wish we had him against Peru. Uribe - 7 - Two point bonus for his goal! Borja - 8 - Scored twice. Hope he can get out of his head. Quintero - 6 - Should play ahead of James. Rueda - 6 - Finally tried 4-3-3 and it worked. Insists with c4 and James in roles that just don't make sense...
Muriel was the 9, Sini simply made runs into space and they were fluid since Muriel can play drop or move wide and open space for runs. Muriel didn't really get a lot of service or much balls into him because we don't have great short passing and Cuadrado tries to hit the hero ball every chance he gets. We need more time and ideally for how we play I think Morelos is a better option as more of a traditional 9 then Muriel with Muriel coming off the bench for one of the front 3. We should have been playing this formation and Diaz and Sini for the last year but Rueda thought Falcao and Borre as two forwards was better.
Pretty good overall ratings but Munoz and Muriel were at best a 3. Quintero > James at this moment. JFQ just looked much faster.
You guys rating everyone way Too high we played in their 30 yard line the whole game and couldn’t score Diaz gets a 15/10 for basically winning by himself Fabra a 7… lay off the empanadas but nice to see a full back attack Borja a 7 for the goals and changing the game Cuadrado a - 89 fking retire!!! james is worse than a Zombie!!! Rueda a 3 - Diaz saved his ass we played what a 2—————2———6? Like that fking gameplay will get us murdered by any other team in the world
Thanks for reminder on Quinterito. Munoz is tough, he got in great positions for a FB just short circuited....
Because the way how Cuadrado carried himself during the Copa America brought attention to how ignorant he himself seems; he became somewhat of the new leader while the coach was having issues with James and when we started focusing more on Cuadrado (at least those who didn't complain about him befofe), we realized that he didn't really have weight with his words because of how bad he actually continues to play for us. Especially as he's somehow playing and starting in every game that he's able to. It's because ridiculous that a player like him who satisfies fans in his club can't provide the means for Colombia as a whole. It's baffling how bad he is for us and how the coach treats him as the most important player in our squad as if he was somehow leader material. I lost patience after the Copa America when I really focused on how he doesn't really give an all rounded performance that benefits Colombia; especially since he's messing up on a cringy consistent basis...
Cuadrado still fighting for those set pieces. James/Quintero are simply way better at delivering on crosses, and from the angle for a right footer on a direct shot Muriel is miles ahead of Cuadrado. Having him on the ball in the middle was sooo bad, so many times he's got a packed box in front of him and he tried to make a direct straight ball into the box over the top. No angle to pull this off, good CM's barely use these balls because its not effective, has to be inch perfect in a small area with goalie coming out and attacker has to bring it down and then get off a shot. Cuadrado cannot simply keep possession and look to weave passes or direct play, and Rueda put him into the position to constantly be doing this why idk. Quintero/James/Cantillo are the guys who should be doing this, Cuadrado at RB or on the bench imo.
