I will just be happy with a point. These guys are too good and our defense without Mina is just not the same. What I think we will see: -----------Ospina------- Munoz--Davinson-Oscar----Tesillo(I hope not but I expect it for more defense.) -----------Barrios--------Cuellar---------- ---Cuadrado-------------James------- -------------Borja---------------Diaz-----
i would like to see.... -----------Ospina---------- ---cuadrado--murillo-davisnon--yairo -------Cuellar (lerma)---Barrios----Cantillo--- ---------Valoyes----Zapata (muriel)----Diaz-----
Given how much iso ball Rueda has been playing running at defenses with Valoyes and Diaz makes too much sense for us to actually do in a game, esp with Duvan holding up for them and playing them into space. The idea of C4/Valoyes and Yairo/Lucho overlap convos is tantalizing! I doubt he starts that way but I'd love to see it during a game.
I think more likely we see something like: ------------------ Ospina --------------- Munoz - Murillo - Sanchez - Yairo C4 ---- Barrios - Cuellar --- Diaz ------------------ James --------------- -------------------Duvan ----------------
anyone else concerned with Davinson not exactly getting many minutes in the last month or so? Not like we have tons of options at this position but I am a bit worried.
Davinson is better than Oscar no matter how many minutes he has played. And they both know Rueda's system very well.
somehow, I am expecting sth like this in Brazil --------Cantillo---Barrios---------- JGC---------James---------Diaz ---------------DuZa or a 4-1-4-1 with the same lineup
I could see (with my Rueda glasses on) JGC as RB with Barrios-Lerma James-Lucho Borre-Duvan Munoz goes in for Borre allowing Cuadrado to go up Borja for Duvan Falcao for James Muriel for Lucho Cuellar or Cantillo for Lerma
I think this is likely what we'll see with Oscar and Duvan and Tesillo at LB. I don't like it at all, James and Cuadrado on the same side against Brazil with Cuadrado at RB is risky imo especially since that will likely be Neymar's preferred side if he drifts. I wish we would but I don't see him moving off the 4-4-2. I'd like to see Muriel and Duvan up top with Diaz and James probably but I think that might be unlikely with Muriel not starting a ton lately so he may be a super sub which is fine. Honestly idk what were't gonna do but away to Brazil a 4-3-3 with James on the right and Diaz on the left with Duvan and maybe Barrios, Cantillo, Munoz as a hybrid 8/RB switching with Cuadrado would be how I would go, but I don't think that will happen by any means. This Brazil team is def beatable if we were on our game, we haven't been so I'm not super confident but Neymar has been really bad this season for PSG, worst I've seen him consistently, and not a lot of other guys who are really on fire either.
I don't know if Duvan should start. Borja is just simply better at putting shots on goal for Colombia and he plays in Brazil all the time.
I'd have no problem with Borja starting though a part of me would like to keep him fresh for Barranquilla. I wish I could argue for Muriel to get a start but Duvan has been much sharper the past month a Luis Fernando has been recovering from injury. I would love to give Duvan a mental break, bring him on as a sub and let him break his duck with lower pressure because once he can get passed this, I think the flood gates could open.
I am going to post the first probable lineup I saw today. (It is silly for the media to speculate without even having players in training but hey, that's Colombian media for ya.): ----------------Ospina------- Munoz--Davinson-Oscar----Tesillo -----------Barrios-------Lerma---------- ---Cuadrado-------------James------- -------------Falcao---------------Diaz----- I think all of us will be scratching our heads in confusion if Falcao is out there.
Well, Yunai's fans just celebrated Fred coming off the field after getting worked by City, so hopefully he comes in a bit softer on confidence.
Buena noticia. Lucumí superó molestias físicas y entró en convocatoria del Genk. El lunes debe reportarse a la Selección en São Paulo. https://t.co/TWe9k2DnjA— Julián Capera (@JulianCaperaB) November 6, 2021
Yes, but in general our training staff need to do a better job when pacing these athletes through these call ups. It's embarrassing that neither of our starting CBs have seen the field since the last call up with muscle injuries driven by playing ~300 minutes in a week in Oct. It looks like they took a 'whatever it's their club's problem' attitude but it's come back to bite us. Esp with covid rules enabling more subs we should be taking care of load mgmt on these guys.
