It's already over, we have no shot, Peru deserves to go, everyone else does over us tbh, we will just be embarrassing at the World Cup if we had made it anyways.

Great we are officially a laughing stock to the point that social media noticed our goal drought.

Holy shit we are arguably the worst South American team right now. Seriously it's pathetic.

1-0 Ecuador, they are saving our behind. If Uruguay beats peru next round then we have a big chance. We don't deserve it, but still..

That was awful all around. I can't remember ever seeing such a gutless display. Right from the onset everyone looked so confused and overwhelmed. It's really hard to contemplate how we were THIS bad, but as Villus said, this is effectively everyone's nightmare since the terrible rosca call up for the last Copa.

Rueda didn't just fail with tactics, he has completely destroyed the morale of this team.

Vargas - 4 - Despite a soft goal, prob our best player based on several saves.

Mojica - 1 - A shadow of the game he played against Brasil a few months ago. His presence here over Yairo a real problem both matches this call up. Lost Lautaro on the goal.

Tesillo - 3 - Meh. Misread the trajectory of ball on Lautaro's goal. Just doesn't happen if Yerry is there.

Davinson - 0 - Unbelievable. There was a play where he had 10 yards on the Argentine player and still didn't get there. Played with breathtaking laziness.

Medina - 3 - at least he tried...

Barrios - 3 - Worst I've ever seen him play. Held onto the ball eternity and killed all progression. Sloppily passed the ball to Argentina numerous times.

Uribe - 2 - Mr Hyde again. Just terrible.

Cuadrado - 1 - He has become such a statesman and great speaker but what on Earth has happened to his game for the NT. Never beat his man the whole game. Had a chance late and close to look for a silly penalty rather than do anything productive.

James - 2 - Way off the pace. Atleast connected a few passes but in this fitness, shouldn't have started.

Borja - 4 - had the tying goal in his grasp but couldn't best dibu. He tried, but again, is coming off two poor outings... Poor Borré.

Lucho - 4 - Tried harder tonight. Great play to set up Borja and then almost scored from the rebound but had it cleared off the line. We just blew this kids shot to be a star at the WC. Shame.

Cantillo - 2 - Came in awful. Didn't seem to have the athleticism to handle the Argentine press and just passed backwards often... One time to an Argentine on the edge of the box.

Suarez - 2 - Didn't look like he was on the level playing out wide.

Valoyes - 2 - Playing on home turf he looked like a deer in headlights. When he finally got his head into the game broke one run to win the by line but Argentina swept well.

Falcao - NA - Deserved to go out better than this.

Cuellar - NA - Thought he came in well actually, but his coming in was an admission that Cantillo sub had only made things worse.

    Rueda - 0 - Pathetic and embarrassing.

We don’t at all.. but yeah if Ecuador holds on here things get extremely interesting in March. If we qualify by some miracle I wont be excited until we get some new faces.

Mojica, Uribe, Cuadrado, James (as unpopular that may be) must go. James/cuadrado can come off the bench maybe..

but I want to see valoyes, cantillo, sinisterra, asprilla & cuesta get real minutes.

Couldn't catch the game live. Turned the replay off once I saw the Argentine gol, knowing we were done.

The commentators were baffled from the get-go at our lack of any urgency. Rueda playing as if Argentina had their starters and as if a draw would mean anything at this point.

It's time to clean house, people. Not just the coach...

Watching Ecuador play & its night and day with our national team. Everyone is going 100% the entire time and on top of that they are fast quick and decisive. This is why we desperately need more youth and ambition on the team.

They know what they want to do. Our guys have absolutely no game plan.

What Rueda did today with the game plan seeding the pitch to Arg away desperately needing a goal?

I agree, but I don’t think the problem is just the coach- i saw james walking around way too much (in his prime hes pressing/putting in effort and motivating those around him) i saw cuadrado make one dumb decision after another.. when your best players and “leaders” put in that kind of performance its hard to expect positive results

Yeah... But the coach decided to play them. If James was ill enough that they thought he had Covid. And c4 was awful last week too.

    Yikes.

Well now it's mathematically impossible for us to directly qualify; we would have to go for the playoff spot assuming that the other matches go in our favor. Which isn't likely.

peru 1-1 ecuador, alright no more hope. They all deserve it more than us. Just hope rueda gets kicked out tomorrow so that the rebuild can start asap.

It’s mathematically possible still just not likely at all.

Uruguay and peru will have to tie and chile will have to lose, and last match day Uruguay and peru has to lose and Colombia has to win both games with high goal margins for any chance at 4th

Honestly had hope till Falcao came on…

line up was bad. When I saw Vargas was like why not just play Mosquera.

vargas best game at goal for us so far. Congrats you only let 1 soft goal in.

Rueda has any self awareness he will resign before tomorrow morning.

Well guys see you next month in March. If we're lucky we'll get friendly for February but not likely. Same with how the final two qualifier matches will go...

We were gutless, without ideas, without urgency, timid, clueless, without character, without personality. Simply pathetic

Again - this is what Rueda coached them to do against Argentina's B team in the make or break game with nothing more to lose.

Reuda's tactics are just too conflicting to the style he wants.

Someone who wants to defend at all cost all game, plays with two wing backs with two DM's sititng back, two wing forwards that sits outside the 18 yard box, and two strikers(borre and falcao) that have tendendcy to drop to midfield.

    2nd game

Nothing changed but some names. This guy needs to go, probably worse than Luis Pinto.
