FOX has hired Peter Schmeichel for their broadcast team.

Did anyone else (stateside) notice Rebecca Lowe’s Freudian slip this morning? Seems she’s really stoked about her upcoming World Cup gig.

As she came to the end of her opening intro to (24 May) today’s Premier League Morning on USA Network (NBC) – standing alone in the center circle at the Tottenham ground – she told the audience to stand by for ”…this final day on Fox”. Yikes!!!

This was the signature shot for the show’s opening, and going into the commercial break, the broadcaster displayed (on the bottom banner of the screen, right below Lowe’s feet) all of the Universal networks (NBC, USA, SYFY, CNBC and Peacock) airing simultaneous matches that morning. Interesting little slip by Lowe, but I’m still impressed by her overall knowledge and professionalism. She’s a great addition to the World Cup broadcast team at Fox.

"Dumb question" (and probably one I could research elsewhere, so forgive me) but...

I have a cable tv package that includes Fox/FS1/FS2?/etc, does that entitle me to use some kind of Fox app for streaming WC matches? Over the years I used an app called Fox Sports but it was very rare and probably not in the last year or two.

I also see old apps on my phone FoxSoccer app, Fox Sports Go.

I know that Fox One exists but I have no idea if that's THE app to use, and if I'm entitled to use it without paying extra which I don't wanna do.

Edit: Nevermind the last part of that last question: I d'loaded Fox One and it let me sign in w/ TV Provider.

You can try to sign into Fox One and see if your cable provider is available for sign in credentials.
I was able to do that with Dish.

Fox Sports app may also still be available but depends on your devices.

I still have the Fox Sports app on my Roku. It's not very good, but it works. It gave me free Fox Soccer Plus for years, but eventually they fixed that glitch. I didn't realize the Fox One app could be used without a Fox One subscription, so I'm going to try that.

FOX ONE is better for Roku. I tried it the other day and it was nice. They even have 4K archived World Cup matches from 2022.

For the opening game, Telemundo had a Coca-Cola ad on the bottom and left while showing highlights from before the hydration break.

    Fox went to full-screen commercials.

Good that players get a break from the scorching 72 degrees and low humidity.

To be fair you also need to stay hydrated at high altitudes order not to get sick.

Telemundo did a better job with the hydration breaks.

    However

FOX is a doing better job at the end of the match. They are still with the broadcast and having their commentators talking and summarizing everything.

Telemundo went straight to a commercial break at the end of the game.

I am pretty sure ITV only has rights to 50% of the games. BBC the rest, starting tomorrow with Bosnia, Bosnia, and obviously they won't do commercials.

ITV has a nice situation there with their studio in Brooklyn Heights, overlooking downtown Manhattan.

Yeah! They should call it what it is, a 3-minute ad break.

And it makes me wonder if that’s going to be adopted in the game as a whole, i.e. it’ll go from a game of 2 halves to 4 quarters.

The broadcasters are rubbing their hands together?

Again, hydration is needed at altitude.

Sure. But you think Infantino is primarily concerned with player welfare?

It does not matter what his intentions are. The point is many people complain that this will be one of the most dangerous World Cups ever while simultaneously complaining about breaks that will help relieve some of those problems.
I can understand people complaining when there is logic to it but looking at the big picture here it will do more good than harm in most instances to do these breaks.
