That would just be a replay of when Zubi used to stand still and not even get a hand on any PK's whether it was against Italy/England/Ireland/South Korea!

This game kind of reminds me of the 2002 QF for Spain, without the disallowed goals.

La Furia look so slow and deliberate in their play, and they seem to be off on their last pass when they do get into the box.

Joaquin's pass to Morientes that the linesman screwed up the call big time! Who could ever forget that play!! That was the match that FIFA figured out after the fact that a quota system for refs in the KO stages was a no no and reverted back to the best refs regardless of where they came from!

I imagine today that goal would count due to VAR

That's what I want to see. Asensio taking shots from distance.

Seriously, I almost stopped watching the game altogether after 2002.. but my love for the game was just too strong..... people who complain about VAR obviously didn't watch that tournament.

The entire team looks tired and without much energy, don't know if it is the high humidity 61% and 78 degrees or they over trained of late or what??

Funny you said that as I watched that game end cruelly for Spain with a very young Joaquin missing the decisive PK I stopped watching the remainder of that WC because of the atrocious officiating that cost Spain a Semi slot.

15 minutes to do something or go to PK's and I do not have a good feeling that about PK's and this team!

The Russians are hell bent on stopping any quick play by Spain and just want to slow the game down

It was a bit light, but still a penalty for me.

FIFA needs to readdress the holding in the box because it has gotten really bad and there seems to be no consistency on how refs call those plays in the box
