Per would be a great option for the academies part of the job I believe, he turned Arsenal around after years of producing very little. Sammer as mentioned ruled himself out, but he is happy to be involved as an adviser. Bobic does have a fair bit of experience hence why he is the favorite Matthäus is a name thrown out there by the media here and I doubt he is a serious option. Ballack is again just media talk for now. We need someone with a strong personality that doesnt shy away from confrontation needed to counter the softer approach by Flick. Hence why names like Ballack and Matthäus are thrown out there. A name that i have yet to see thrown out there is Völler. A lot of experience and someone who would challenge the players and Flick.
Völler seems very happy running things behind the scenes at Leverkusen, so I don't think he'd be interested.
He finished up end of last season, unless you meant he is still running the show even after his "retirement" .
Germany have won just 4 of the 12 games played in 2022. Second worst performance of all time, in a given calendar year. The worst was 4 wins of 13 in 2018.
Not defending that record but means very little in a year there was no qualification games and a major tournament we got knocked out in the first round. England only won 5 games (2 games before the world cup and 3 at the world cup against Iran wales and half the Senegalese team) Hopefully they get knocked out against France so they remain at 5. France only won 3 before the world cup. I think it shows how meaningless the Nations League as a competition and how little the bigger teams cared about it this year
shows how everyone hates Germany, lol This is a perfect summary of why no-one should be feeling sorry for Germany's downfall in international football. 😂So good. 😂🎥 @karachikhatmalpic.twitter.com/jnXH7hpFzL— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) December 9, 2022 mostly out of fear, jealousy and results.
German hater community should build a gigantic Flick's statue as he's the real mastermind of German's demise at this WC.
the worst hater honestly are ones who constantly calls Germany Nazis and/or still bitter about WWII. I recall entire time growing up most haters were based on Politics-WWII over staying objective.
Funny thing about the WWII references is that the ones who harp on about it are people who didn't even live through it. From what I can tell the people who actually did have a very forgive-and-forget attitude towards Germany and its people.
Italy, Spain and Germany have not won a single knock-out round match at a WC since they won their final in 2006, 2010 and 2014.
Italy played in WC 2014. Uruguay, Costa Rica, England and Italy were a group. The latter two were eliminated in the group stage.
I my mind I shifted 2018-2022 misses to 2014-2018. But yes your right but still 2 back to back fails is too much
People slander me in America for being a german fan and claim i'm all those generalizations even though my grandfather was born in Germany and grew up watching this team with my dad.
I think this is the most depressing thing. But maybe in the long term this is the disaster this team and the DFB more broadly needed to make some changes similar to the early 2000s. The DFB as a whole needed to clean house after the off field scandles and terrible results and academy mismanagement of recent years.
I still think that even an average Bundesliga coach will definitely more than able to get Germany advance to the ko stage, any coach without Spanish possession based of football to be precise. It hurts me to see the likes of Fullkrug goin home early, man could have a memorable WC run, possibly his best chance too since he'll be 33 comes next WC.
mhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so Flick announcing that he is still planning with Neuer for 2024.... Come on man Flick . I always said I would never criticize Flick until after this world cup, and now is the time to do so as promised. Flick made crucial mistakes this world cup and also Nations League Losing against Hungary and drawing England, means we have no more competitive matches. He should have learned from the Hungary game that we are suspect to low block teams. Not having a starting XI until it was to late - especially around the defenders. Having this thing that Kimmich , Goretzka and Gundo having to play Not playing with a CF Fulkrug Hanging on to Muller Hanging on to Neuer If hanging onto those players why not Hummels Subbing out best player against Japan Could not get team to defend as a unit. High Pressing we know that we are suspect to counters (Hungary)
Flick was hands down the biggest disapointment for me. going into the world cup i actually believed having Flick as coach would be one of Germanys biggest assets. turns out he was the biggest hindrance and there's no signs he's learnt anything from this.
One of the problems with hiring Flick was that he literally has virtually zero experience of coaching anything other than a dominant team. So far he’s only proven he can do well at Bayern when he had better players then most opponents and could always play on the front foot, take more risks and even if the defending was occasionally suspect they would usually outscore other teams so it didn’t matter so much. That isn’t gonna work with the NT.
