I agree the fullbacks are an issue, although Raum wasn’t bad I think we really need Klostermann on the other side to be starting.

If you want to flood the middle I would probably have preferred to start with Müller, Musiala & Füllkrug as oppose to Gnabry though. We could then have played with a 3 in midfield but still carried something of a threat.

I'm assuming Gnabbers is the only one with the energy to lock down the right and get forward - no way Mueller does that job

I think we also need to go up early... the longer it takes to score a goal the more pressure and better it looks for Costa Rica just like in 2018 it's going to be nerve-wracking but at least we have a couple days not to think about it :D

Also tempo is the key. Fast tempo really unsettles low block teams. For me we need to throw the kitchen sink at Costa Rica in the first hour, after that we can take advantage of the 5 subs we can use.

Oliver Kahn on whether Bayern will extend the contract with Qatar Airways: "Everything is focused on the World Cup at the moment. Afterwards we will sit down and discuss with our partners in calm."

"It is very important for us to remain in dialogue and to initiate certain things. We will discuss all this and then come to a decision"

Kahn on Goretzka's statement that he wouldn't be against ending the Qatar deal: "It's normal for players to talk about this. That's all well and good. If the players want to comment on certain topics, they should do, that's important and they do so in different campaigns"

"Just don't overdo it. They are supposed to set an example, but there comes a point, as was the case with the armband: one or two days before the first game, as a player I have to think about other things: the opponent, my position. the opponent's strengths and weaknesses"

"Discussions like the one we've had about the One Love armband are simply not helpful"

on the One Love armband: "This topic went on for many weeks and months. It should have been resolved long ago. It's understandable that there was a lot of unrest. It all fell down on the players' backs and hit the wrong people. The officials should've solved it in advance"

Some disgusting stats from the WC:

Germany lead all teame with xG (10.4), Shots on target per match (8), big chances created (15) and not surprisingly big chances missed (11). It also leads in possession won in final 3rd/match (9). 4th in possession won in midfield (behind Spain, Denmark and Brazil (I may have missed one as these stats are not ordered)).

Something is horribly wrong with our play that we can get these kinds of stats and go out in GS. (yeah I know, it doesn't surprise anyone here).:(:(:(:(

So we seem to have 3 threads about the National Team now

Shall we keep the other teams thread for the World Cup and start a new thread for Das Reboot Drei?

Denmark also quite vocal about what happened in Qatar, they even made a request to Fifa to allow them to wear pro human rights training shirts. And just like the Germans, they went home early.
    Lol.

2/3 are about the WC=WC is over. The Costa Rica thread won't be open forever. And even this one, WC for us is done for.

and I don't think anyone wants another reboot thread and at end of day there won't be a real reboot until you phase out the 95-96 players.

Not really. We do have alot of quality, its just a mentality issue. I presume the dark ages your refering to 1998-2004? We really did lack quality in that era until the emergence of Ballack.

I have reopened all threads of the group stage games if anybody wants to discuss specially incidents of these games.

Use the general WC thread, the other teams thread or other topics and the EC 24 thread for team development otherwise.

Ger90 , how should we line up in 2024 and 2026 in the most ideal scenario?
Meaning getting rid of the Muller , Neuer , Gundogan and every other slow and wasted player.

    Please list me promising list.
    Samardzic? And goalkeeper besides Nubel?
