We cant expect more progress from Mexico with the current number of talent that is being produced. Twelve players in Europe with less than half getting regular playing time is not going to cut it. Having 2-3 players in Liga MX's top 10 leading goal scorer also shows a lack of talent. Success at Youth level rarely correlates to success at the senior level. And like you said Liga MX isnt much help with the majority of youth players returning home from a succesfull tourney only to rot away in the bench. Just pointing out that it isnt necessarily a hinderance. Promoters also play a big role in those countries, they are just that loaded with talent. A good example is Camoranesi, he couldnt land a first division club in Argentina. In Uruguay Paco Casal pretty much controls the majority of transfers that go abroad. Hosting two World Cups helped cement the popularity of the Sport in Mexico. IMO, a main problem has been that players get overpaid and become complacent. The players that do go abroad many times take a wage cut.
