what do you think about it??

i think FIFA should have a WC every 2 years instead of EURO and Copa America

Sepp Blater has mentioned the issue a few years ago but it faded somehow

I think it's the worst idea in the history of Christendom.

Even worse then the club WC?

Btw a better idea is to let Brazil and Argentina enter the EC and to scarp the WC.

    You're right - it's the second worst.

    And a damn good idea.
If the 2 year thing goes ahead, then that's what should happen - it'd make the 2 year WC a non-event.

Ok, I'll say it before anyone else does.

    Just 2 reasons why not.

    1) The WC is special and feels special for the very reason that it only happens once every 4 years. You increase the frequency and you also devalue it.

    2) I can speak certainly for those in Europe where we have a very decent Tournament in the period between WCs. Why get rid of it to play in a devalued WC?

Keep things the way they are. It isn't broke so don't try to fix it.

Yeah, and how successful is the Hockey world champs? It is Stanley Cup's little brother. Do we want something similar for our World Cup?

every 2 years is a great idea.

I think we should scrap the concept of clubs altogether and have national teams play full time, with a regular season and all. That sounds like fun to me. No need for a World Cup either. :)

    LOL...
but yea every two years would make it useless...
we should keep it the way it is...
Besides Copa America and EC is the continental event, the World Cup is that teams from all over the world.

i can tell ya i'm quite surprise most of you against the idea

despite i think that WC every 2 years would be a great idea

there will be no more EC or CA but only a world cup and it will be much more obligated for the NT's

    Colombia won the last CA
that means they are the best in S.america?? HELL NO

in a WC all the NT's will be much more determined and focused

The World Cup is great the way it is.

And what shall we do with the European Championship or Copa America or Asian Championship?

Two years would take a lot of respect from the World Cup.

Imagine an inflational number of World Cup winners.

    No.

i mean cmon on, there wouldnt even be enough time for qualifying - it's the wait that helps make it great

there will be no EC or CA and othe continental events
it will be down to the WC and the WC only

BTW,i'm sure most of the NT's that failed in the WC or fail to qualify would love to have one next year instead of a long 3 seasons awaitness

It's an awful awful idea only properly highlighted by the absence of decent posters on this thread.

Everyone with any brain at all knows it's an awful idea.

Your version ends with the trashing of at least one well liked and highly respected continental championship (Copa Am. needs a little working), only to be replaced by a WC whose splendour and prestige has been halved.

It's a great idea for those that don't have a decent continental chamionship and those who are acutely myopic about the future of a successful WC.

    Well, abolish the European Championship?
    Thats the next bad idea.

Exactly thats what makes the World Cup so special.

If you fail you feel bad for 4 long years, and if you succeed you feel good for 4 long years.

2 years would minimze the meaning of it.

i'm sure that all the european NT's that trying to qualify for Portugal2004 would prefer to compete on a qualifying to a WC instead

Where is the difference if you fail in Qualification for Euro2004 or if you fail in qualification for WC2004?

    Whatever, Israel wouldn`t qualify.

So I don`t see the difference?

A World Cup would give even less spots to qualify.

in the last WC there were 15 teams from europe and they would be 15 teams to qualify to EURO2004 so there's no much differece
