This is the place for you to air all your rants and complaints about high ticket prices, FIFA frustrations, water break outrage, lack of public transportation, americanization of the the game, half time shows... anything and everything. Have at it!
My name is João DaSilva The word is a$$ sigh ee NOT Ah KAI !!!! I hope no Brazilians were offended by this
Yes! Our first post, and a good one. Loved those acai bowls in '14. This is the place to air our grievances instead of the News & Analysis.. and the Ticketing thread. Hopefully it catches on but probably not. My turn. Ticket prices are higher than they've been before. We get it, move on. Fifa's audience are the TV advertisers (billions will watch), the US consumer market (we spend stupid money on entertainment), and committed international fans that want to see their team regardless of cost...and have some fun while doing it. At least, unlike Qatar, there's at least honesty/authenticity in what the US hosting the WC is all about.. a huge party, massive unabashed commercialism, stupid mascots, horrible I Believe chants, terrible public transportation, and a whole nation that will be extremely interested for a few weeks and then move on to whatever else is next.
Silly article about travel and concerns: https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...pact-all-teams-mileage-calculated-preparation
The guys they quoted in that article come off as pretty spoiled and ridiculous. Travelling with their own mattress?? I guess whatever gives you that 1% edge over your opponent matters, but this sounds like BS. The top-end bedding companies constantly use the term "hotel style" as a selling point for their most expensive bedding products.
I would be extremely surprised if the Cup doesn't return to North America roughly every 4th cup. There aren't too many places to hold a tournament of the size that its become. The USA may not always be the main host, but a large proportion of matches will have to played there even if someone else hosts the final.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/maryro...ween-two-countries-that-punish-homosexuality/ You can’t make this shit up. LOL
Our intelligence agencies will just raid and round up FIFA officials again... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_FIFA_corruption_case
Interesting take on it. I do not agree with your take though. We have seen athletes in many American sports not want to participate within LGBT type of matches or ceremonies. One of the many I can point to is the NY Rangers hockey club being asked to wear rainbow uniforms but instead wore the statue of liberty uniforms in protest. So not all American cultures agree with your opinion.
Whats hilarious is that the other match in that group is Belgium vs New Zealand. Like, they could have EASILY swapped that match. It is not like the two matches are wildly different in quality either.
This is largely my take as well. South America doesn't even want to host it's own continental tournament half the time due to cost. They aren't hosting a full tournament anytime soon. I would venture to guess that even Australia and New Zealand will combo with the USA in the future.
That would be perfect for a 64 team tournament. 8 games a day. (Two seperate 32 team tournaments) All the matches staggered out so that none of them conflict due to time zone differentials. Would not have to travel much until the Final. Hawaii would be the nice midway point.
I found this on Facebook. Some comments "Football in the hands of Usa is a......sacrilege." "Just watch it on tv or dont watch it at all we should start boycoting everything they just keep pumping the prize on everything greedy bastards." "It was wrong to give America the world cup has the host nation. They have restriction visa entries to some countries like Iran and Haiti. Now the tickets are high because they don't want more people to flood in the USA." "Taking it to America was the biggest mistake "
UEFA's commitment to continuing its fair ticket pricing policy for EURO 2028 and for away fans in its club competitions really shows FIFA's ticket policy in a very bad light.
If they ever host a Euro here or Euro competitions in the USA I think they would be tempted to do the same thing. Maybe not exactly the same policies but they are not going to be charitable and keep prices low. That I would bet my life on.
Iranians (besides diaspora) won't even be able to travel to Seattle. Are they just expecting that Iranian diaspora + any Egyptian fans and neutrals will be able to fill out the whole stadium? What are they even doing at this point?
As a general rule, I'd agree but this is an issue that doesn't even have universal support within the US itself.
On the social media, we're also seeing a proliferation of prejudices against the USA and its citizens, due to the tickets prices. I got some comments in French. "Trump et les États Unis gâchent l’expérience de la coupe du monde, aucun intérêt à faire le mondial la bas, c’est un pays qui n’a pas du tout cette culture" "La Russie est plus digne que les États Unis. Ce pays ultra capitaliste." "Le rêve américain" "Le soccer"
Not sure on that. Multiple hosts could be the dominant new format, which would be a shame from an atmosphere and experience viewpoint. However, it would enable future South American and possibly African World Cups. Mexico could be included in a Brazil based World Cup. Besides which the idea of 'turns' has been ditched by FIFA as it reduces competition. I can't see the USA ever accepting a position as junior partner in a joint bid. 32 years between North American World Cups. 2030 Iberia + Morocco, 2034 Saudi Arabia, 2038 somewhere else maybe South America, maybe China, 2042 Europe, 2046 whichever of Asia or South America didn't host 2038, possibly Australia. Or Africa. Could be looking at 2050 or beyond. FIFA voting members love money but they're also domestic political creatures. If the head of a country says don't vote for the USA then the FIFA vote won't go to the USA. The USA is very unpopular at globally currently. Hopefully that will change and there is plenty of time for it to change before future FIFA votes.
